I've noticed that women on this site tend to prefer, well, smaller men like this:

Or this Calling the latter two "too muscular". And, I'm confused, seeing as I though women generally liked masculine-looking men, as women do prefer taller men for the reasons of "feeling safer/protected". Oddly enough, height doesn't even do much for your ability to protect someone and muscularity does, but women don't seem to apply that same logic to intimidating, masculine levels of muscularity.
Am I wrong? Am I crazy? Are women crazy? Are the women on here crazy? Help a brother out.

The guys you are referring to aren't "less masculine" or "less manly"; the other two types are just ridiculously excessive in their physique. Women aren't as attracted to the huge Hulk physiques because they aren't symmetrical or visually balanced in the shoulder width : waistline ratio that females inherently find attractive. Human females are different from other female mammals in what they instinctively consider attractive in males. In the animal kingdom females look for size in potential male mates. Female deer go for the largest antler spread; peacocks look for large feather plumage; walruses & hippos want the fattest body. But human females are turned on by body proportion, symettry, and ratios that aren't excessive. That's why they aren't as drawn to the hulking male physiques. Also, anyone who sees a man that big knows he had to put in a lot of effort & energy in order to acquire that body because it isn't a natural physique found in nature. Women often view that type of behavior as a man having misplaced priorities; an emotional/mental issue that compels those guys into becoming so absurdly muscular; him trying to overcompensate for some other perceived shortcomings; or a man who is essentially insecure. Oh and by the way, you're incorrect about why women like tall men. They're not attracted to height out of a sense of safety and protection. It's driven instead by an evolutionary mechanism our prehistoric ancestors needed for survival in the past. As primates who had only recently came down from the trees and began standing erect and walking upright on the ground, height became paramount for our survival as the taller members could see over the high grasses of the plains and see further downfield in order to spot predators. The things women find attractive in men & vive versa– It's all driven by evolution!
The spotting predators hypothesis makes decent sense, but I haven't seen any evidence for it in scientific journals.
I disagree that the man in the second picture isn't well-proportioned; I think his ratios, symmetry, and body proportions are actually far better than that of the first man.
Yes, you may think that about the man in the 2nd photo. But females won't. It's simply not the natural male physique that Mother Nature provides us with. To the vast majority of females, those bulky physiques are just excessive. Look, we have different conceptions about musculature than females. Women aren't attracted to the size of muscles when they view males; they're attracted to the tightness/tone in the male body; the least flabby/loose areas the better. They aren't looking for men whose bodies say "power" as much as they are looking for tight bodies that say "active" and "industrious". Bodybuilding male physiques is to a woman what the woman with GG breasts, or the woman who has had waaay too much plastic surgery is to men : too much.
Here's another way to think about it too : Do you remember when Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone first broke into movies? Remember how big they were early in their careers and slimmed considerably in the subsequent years? It's because they were simply too big to be cast for leading man roles at their initial size. And why is that? Because Hollywood won't cast men who aren't appealing to women, and bulky hulking men aren't appealing visually to the vast majority of women. You can disagree all you want with women about what is attractive but it's not going to change the fact that women–not you–will take the man in the first photo at least 85% of the time. You'll never be able to change their mind for them about what comes naturally to them.
I don't really know what to tell you other than this : Your personal preferences in men and women's body types simply will not match the majority of other humans. I'm not saying there is no one out there for you or that women will think you're ugly, because that's not true if you spend that much time in the gym. There is somebody for everybody believe it or not. All I'm saying is you may want to recalibrate your expectations in terms of how many women are going to be drawn to a guy with a bodybuilder's physique. Just don't expect most women to be as attracted to hugely muscular men. And don't try to convince them otherwise by arguing with them about it. You, me, no one, is going to be able to tell a woman what to think or find attractive. That's a losing venture going down that road. You could make the most rational, thorough, and scientifically vetted argument ever... and it won't change a woman's mind one damn bit. I mean, have I convinced you yet that pic 1 is more attractive?
Of course I haven't. If anything, I've probably irritated you and caused you to double down on your original opinion of massive physiques being the best way to go. Odds are, you're having that same effect on women when you argue with them and try to convince them that they're wrong for not wanting insanely ripped men with beastly frames. Just respect their outlook. Accept it. Don't worry about those chicks anymore and appreciate the women who do like big guys even more than you ever have before because now you know how rare they can be to find.
I just don't know if that's true, man. I think women prefer guys who are at the natural limit in terms of muscle mass rather than steroids-built guys like KK in the second picture. Also, I grew in up in a household where my mom laughed at guys with the "swimmer's built" and called thm repulsive or disgusting. She always prefer large, muscular men like my dad used to be before he went vegan.

Nah, a man doesn't have to even be as toned as the first man, let alone be built like the others, to be seen as masculine. I know and have come across plenty of "masculine" men non of them have either of those bodies. I'd even go as far as to say those bodies make you less "masculine", at least in terms of how your perceived visually.
Can't speak for all women, but I don't like overly muscular men because:
1) They look too intimidating. What if they're violent? Imagine if they get mad, they could kill me with one hit. 2) They don't look aesthetically pleasing, and even "less human" sometimes, when they overdo it. 3) Too much muscle doesn't feel nice to the touch, I don't want to cuddle with that *looks at the second picture*. 4) They're probably obsessed with the gym. 5) Since they spend so much time on working out, I assume they lack in other areas, for example intelligence.
1) Yes, that's the point. 2) No, I love the way they look. The second guy has just the right proportion of muscle size to his body. 3) How would too much muscle feel different than too little muscle? 4) How is being dedicated to your sport (powerlifting or strongman) a bad thing? 5) This point is beyond ridiculously stupid.
1) For you - maybe, but I want to feel comfortable with my partner, not be afraid of him. 2) Again, you do, I don't. Different tastes, man. I don't want my guy to look like a giant clump of muscles. 3) Muscle is hard, fat is soft. Not saying I like skinnyfat guys, but I don't like body builders either. 4) Being dedicated isn't a bad thing, being obsessed with it is, because you don't have time for other activities, 5) How is it stupid? You only have 24 hours in a day. Let's say you work out 2 hours/day, and getting to the gym takes you 30 mins, that's 3 hours per day you could have spent on reading a book, for example.
Bottom line is, everyone has different tastes, as asking "Why women don't like the male physique I like?" is the same as asking someone who prefers blondes "How can you not like brunettes, they're obviously better?". Just do what makes you happy, if you want to be buff, then be buff.
Obsession is a highly admirable quality, though. Obsession is what created almost every aspect of the modern world. I have lots of respect for people whom are obsessed with a certain preoccupation.
Why would you assume he's stupid, though? He could easily have a 140+ IQ. Hell, he could be a PhD. I know many powerlifters who are PhDs, doctorates, and/or professors.

and by the way the thing you are confused about with height and why it makes women feel safe and such since it doesn't really affect your strength and all well you're thinking about it from a male p. o. v... we dont look at tall men and calculate their strength and imagine them in a fight lol we just "feel" like there is a wall or something big next to us, you know, makes u feel feminine as well lol not ALL women obviously but you know what i mean lol

Personally, guy up top is too feminine looking and the first guy on the bottom is just... scarily unpleasant to look at. Like a gorilla. I don't think most human women want to date a gorilla. But guy on the very bottom is pretty nicely shaped. I don't like any super muscular men. You don't have to be stacked with lumps to be a good body guard. Smaller guys tend to be better at Martial Arts anyway.
Those "masculine" ones are gross. I could never be with a guy like that, total turn off, just not attracted to that. The body in the first picture is perfect. But I also don't really care about a guy's height, I don't necessarily need him to be tall, so maybe my opinion is irrelevant here.
I generally prefer 'less muscular' men, like the first one. Not necessarily only because of their appearance. If you want to look like the bottom guy, you basically have to live at the gym. Eat a very particular diet, etc.. Not my cup of tea to be with a guy who dedicates his life to maintaining and 'bettering' his muscle definition&size.
Training for sport or muscle size, all the same in my books. Takes the same amount of dedication and lifestyle changes, regardless of the reason behind it.
Your also wrong in claiming that you'd need to "live at the gym" in order to look like the guys in the bottom two pictures. That physique is a result of years consistently trained, not so much hours spent in the gym.

No, there still has to be progressive overload (I. e. Weight must increase overtime). But still perhaps five hours a week is enough to get incredibly muscular, as long as progressive overload is used,
Well I consider the first guy muscular I mean most men don't look like that at all. But you don't need to be overly muscular to be masculine just like you don't need huge butt, legs , hips and boobs to be feminine. but it all depends on the girl just like the guy. But the first guy has an amazing body

I like masculine men but not to the point that he looks like a caveman or excessively muscular. I want a man who is muscular like a fitness or underwear model. I don't think any girl is attracted to an abnormally muscular man. I love beards on men and that makes them look masculine. I also love tall men and being tall is masculine as well.
Besides that's so hard to sustain. You need to spend hours in the gym to attain that physique. I would question a guy's priorities if he was as buff. Seems a bit vain to me, which is a bit of a feminine trait... Ah ha!
Obviously they're not working to purposefully be that muscular. The bottom two are (or were" professional strongmen and powerlifters. They train for the sport, and the body just comes with it.
Ha ha... Good point and I might have a bias here. But it's also about priorities. Guys who love sports are not necessarily stupid of course. But someone who dedicates the majority of his time to something that requires lesser use of intellect is not for me...
I don't equate muscular as masculine. A big gay muscular guy would not be considered masculine, to me. In fact many are quite feminine. Masculine is more of a guys guy, confident, protective and athletic. Maybe a bit cocky, outgoing. But not necessarily huge.

I did not find bulging muscles listed anywhere. Your initial question was "Do women prefer less masculine men?" You probably should have asked do women prefer less MUSCULAR men. Your photos presume muscular equal masculine, I have attempted to teach you otherwise. in fact, according to society's understanding of "masculine" and looking at your photos, the first man may be more masculine than the second and third, but you won't accept that as long as you continue to believe masculine = Huge muscles.

The entire conversation was about physical traits, period. We're talking about physical indicators of masculinity, only, as that's what women use in first impressions. I never presumed that muscle = masculinity; you are well aware that I never claimed that. Although, it would foolish to claim that more testosterone (which is certainly evident in the second two men) doesn't correlate with self-confidence, aggressiveness, and other masculine traits.

You're both wrong. A deep voice is the most masculine thing that differentiate us from females. There are a lot of self-confident and cocky gay guys out there. Self-confidence doesn't make them manly. I've met a lot of muscular men with feminine voices before. Muscles don't make them manly unless they don't open their mouths. Believe me question asker, a tall man with a deep and "strong" voice makes girls wet ;)
@GermanGod I can somewhat understand deep voice, but not so much height. Muscles are more intimidating than height, and there are plenty of women whom are 5'10+ but very, very few whom have really deep voices and man-like levels of muscularity.
I usually prefer lean builds, but if I liked a guy, what his height/weight/build is won't stop me from wanting to date him. The only big guy I dated was an Army guy, 6'7" and very muscular. He was gentle with me, so that was fine.
I wouldn't 'go for' either of these body types to be honest. They're away at polar opposite ends of the spectrum too, there's tonnes of body shapes women prefer in between that you've failed to mention in your post...
The big dude looks like a hitman, I'd feel more protected, but he needs to be smart too. (He looks a bit dumb :/ ) Oh and I don't find him attractive but I'd feel protected..
I don't think that the man in the first photo looks un-masculine, it's just that the second one is hyper-masculine, to the point of not looking like a real human being. He looks like the Michelin man.
