The way I see it, she initially responded to the message, but she intended for the conversation to be innocent and friendly. When you tried to get her to turn against her boyfriend (you), she felt uncomfortable and stopped responding. That means she is standing by you. I wouldn't be concerned.

I do think it's a bad idea to pull something like this again. If she ever found out (hope that girl didn't actually rat on you) she could feel like she is being spied on. Which, technically, she is. I know what it's like to feel crazy insecure, but ultimately you have to choose to trust your partner, or your relationship will never be healthy. So take this experience as a vote of confidence, and try to trust her more in the future.

To answer your question though, I usually respond to DMs just because I'm curious as to what they want. And whenever it gets past the point of what I think is appropriate I'll tell them and stop responding if they don't respect it. Her response is very neutral, don't read too much into it. And if she didn't respond then you should take it as a good thing.
