What usually happens if you get written up by a teacher in High School?

Some boy behind me in my English Class in high school, was talking to me during class today. I turned around and said "be quiet", and my English teacher, who was in a bad mood, said. "okay you two are disrupting class, you both can go see the Principal". She wrote us both up, "for talking and disrupting class". I've never done anything wrong at school before, and this wasn't my fault. We went to the Principal's Office, but he was in some meeting, and his secretary said "he will call you both in on Monday to discuss your discipline slips". We were able to go back to class. Will I get some sort of punishment?
