Girl "wears the pants" in the relationship?

Hey everyone, so recently one of my friends made an underhand comment about the nature of my relationship with my BF. He was sitting RIGHT THERE and she said to me, "You are obviously the one who wears the pants in the relationship."

If you read my other question about outgoing girls, you can kinda see my BF's behavior after she said that.

I was just wondering a few things. 1) Guys, how would you feel if someone said this to your Girlfriend in front of you. 2) What do you think when the girl "wears the pants" in a relationship"? 3) Girls, what's your reaction to this? I know she should not have said that, but what could I have done in response?

The partner who "wears the pants" is the one who's making all the decisions. They are LEADING and the other is FOLLOWING. Usually men are more masculine so they tend to LEAD, but this role can go either way.

If you don't want to wear the pants then you need to date a guy who will take charge and lead. This is a guy who doesn't bother with questions like, "well what do YOU want to eat, where do YOU want to go for dinner? What movie to YOU want to see?" The leader doesn't ask these questions.. he makes those decisions and invites his partner to follow.

For the most part these types of off handed comments don't matter to us guys... unless we're really insecure about ourselves.

I'm not so sure about that phrase. There is one thing I know, for every relationship and family, women are the backbone.

well there are some relationships in which the girl seems to be the more dominant one and the guy is more relaxed or passive. if both of them like it then its no problem. different people's personalities are different. if your boyfriend doesn't have a problem with how you treat each other then just ignore that comment. some people are more used to seeing the guy be the dominant one and the girl be passive. I would have just ignored it
