Why would you ignore someones texts?

Question

We have all done it at some point. Sometimes I just don't have time and forget to reply afterwards, other times it might be someone sends too many messages all day and it becomes too much.
but if it's someone you just started talking to,
why do you do it?

And if someone is ignoring you, do you have a comeback that works?

I'm from the generation that predates mobile phones, we don't text, and I actually really really dislike talking on the phone, I prefer to actually see who I am talking to. And one thing that drives me mad at work is people texting in they are sick, NO MOTHER FUCKER UNLESS I CAN HEAR YOUR DRY HACKING COUGH OR YOU AT LEAST FAKING A DRY HACKING COUGH YOU ARE NOT SICK, and you sure as shit better not put a smiley face on the end of that particular message.

I've done it to an extent. Like if it is between a girl and I, I just let it sit for a while. Then again, I think most people do that when it comes to romancing a potential partner.

But I'll just set whole things aside from group chats and just read them later after the barrage of ideas or whatever has passed and just respond with 'K'.

Sometimes I'll set something aside and just forget about it. I'm sure we've all made that mistake. Ja ja

1. I absolutely hate that person. I would have blocked the person even.
2. I read the message but i forgot to reply. This happens when i have a lot of texts and subconciously opened and close one and porbably missed them out. But eventually i will scroll through and reply.
3. Ran out of comments to give. If they put emojis and stuff then? Am i supposed to say the emoji looks cute lmfao
4. Advertisments.
5. People who kept talking about sex.

- They are annoying as fuck.
- They are constantly asking for the same thing.
- They are boring me to death.
- I do not like their guts.
- I don't feel like texting.

I have no issue when the other person does the exact same thing to me, I never complain about that crap. If they do not like me it's cool, they have every right not to like me, just as I have every right not to like them as well.

I usually do it unintentionally, like I'll look at the message and then get busy so I end up forgetting. If something like that happens the person usually messages me again, which helps.

The only time I purposefully ignore messages is when I don't want to talk to them at all. No amount of extra messages will make me want to open them.

I do it all the time to guys who still try desperately to crawl out of the friendzone pit when I've told them its never gonna happen. I don't understand why they just don't move on and why my no means keep trying in their eyes. It's creepy. So yes, I'll ignore them like they're dead

I'd always reply to someone I'm interested in. Sometimes it may take me a while to respond, but I would eventually. The only time I wouldn't respond to a guy I like is if I feel the conversation hs dragged on for a while. If I don't like a guy I'd respond to his first few messages but I'd quickly stop responding if he keeps messaging. It gets annoying if I don't like him

I would never intentionally ignore someone. If i don't respond it's because I've forgot to because I got busy or I'm a bonehead and I typed a message and didn't hit send. Either way i apologize for my late response.

Many guys message us stupid things so at some point you don't even pay attention to it if you are not that interested.
You might ignore the texts because you are angry at someone and try to punish them with your silence. That's immature though.
