Why is height so important to women?

So i was on tinder recently and i was talking to this girl.

In her bio she had "Im tall asf js"... So i proceeded to ask why she put that and she said she was matching with short dudes (even though she's the one swiping)

She told me she ha a preference for taller men. I dont care but would like to know why girls have such a superficial preference?

She's 5'6

That standard is for us Amazonians who can accidentally trample an average sized guy... which happens more often than one would think (clubs, sports, large boxes blocking your ground vision...)

Some women like to be shorter than their man - these are the women who usually want to look up to the man as being the financial provider, decision maker and problem solver. Others - like me - do not care a jot if the man is shorter so long as he has the right personality, attitude, brains etc.

Some girls have a preference for taller guys because they think it they'll look awkward and be judged by others if they're with a guy the same height or shorter, which is kinda stupid, because I know a couple where the guy is literally like 4" shorter than she is, and nobody cares.

But on a serious note, it's just preferences like some people like skinny or curvier. Only difference is you can alter those as compared to height. Even if you were 5'2 I wouldn't say let it get to you. Just focus on your other features and your personality. I'm sure girls would rather a short attractive fun guy as opposed to a tall attractive but boring guy.

No idea dude, I'm 5'7 and haven't been without a girlfriend more than a couple of months since I was 15.

Most girls are still shorter than me, so whatever. I don't care if they're worried about how we'll look together when she's wearing heels. She can learn to wear flats if she's that concerned.

On a more serious note, it's what society has always said is normal. No one wants to stand out by being the girl with a short guy. Also, shortness has always been a point of mockery, so they don't want to be with a "joke" of a man.
It's not to say if you are short you are less of a man, but these are social issues for sure.

Guys (especially guys who's height starts with "5") get very testy about this height thing. Like an hourglass figure and other markers of femininity, height is a trait of masculinity that signals the subconcious that a man is a good mate, just like broad shoulders, strong legs, etc. Heterosexual women are wired to be attracted to men taller than they are.
