My girlfriend's best friend absolutely HATES me and wants to break us up. What do I do?

I've been going out with my girlfriend for about 7 months now. We met about a year ago. We get along great and everything is perfect except her best friend absolutely hates me and now I think she's trying to break us up. She's been telling my girlfriend lies about me that I'm worried my girlfriend might believe because they've known each other all their lives and trust each other.

Guys: What do I do in this situation? Do I just let what's going to happen happen? Or do I try to fight it somehow?

Girls: What would you do if you were in my girlfriends situation? If your best friend was telling you bad things about your boyfriend and your boyfriend was denying them and you had nothing to go on but their word and nobody else other than your best friend had anything bad to say about him?

If this was the situation I would never break up with my guy unless I found out any of those so-called lies were true. The thing is, my friends and I don't always like the boyfriends of one another. However, we don't bring it up and we don't try to break them up as it's not our business. If I love someone that my friends don't like it's too bad for them. All that matters is how much I love him (or like him). My friends know how stubborn I am. I usually find out their reasoning behind hating him. If it's valid then I try to minimize the boyfriend friend time. However, if it's not valid I would tell my friend to be respectful.

Do you know why this girl hates you so much? I would get together with her and her boyfriend (if she has one) and get to know her. You don't have to be this girls friend but at least be civil.

I don't know. All I know is that I moved to the area about a year and a half ago and I'm the only person they know who wasn't born and raised here. They all went to high school together.

Well in that case I would get together with your girlfriend and her. She may just be weary of guys due to a possible bad experience or it could be a misunderstanding. I would get to know her so she gets the opportunity to get to know you. Some girls are defensive by nature with men (and women as well sometimes). She may also feel a bit threatened that you're going to take time away from her best friend. Talk to her and get to know why she feels the way she does.

Do you think it's possible she just doesn't like me because she views me as an "outsider" to their little group because I'm the only one of them who didn't go to high school together?

This could be a possibility as well. The only way of knowing for sure is by talking to her.

The only reason she would have to be worried is if you have given her a reason not to trust you in the past. If you haven't, the best thing to do is be honest and if she goes for her friends lies then she has more trust in her friend than you and you should let it go. This is not your problem it is her friends problem. Always be civil to her friend and never talk trash about her as this can make you look weak. Be confidant in your honesty and let the chips fall where they may.

I would ask my boyfriend about his side and if they didn’t match a would sit them both down together and see who is lying and who is being honest, its hard and I have been in that spot and it sucks. Just don’t give up and keep reminding her you’re not lying and you would prove it anyway you can.

well I would talk to my boyfriend and if he has never lied to me before I would just stay with him and as for the best friend I would tell her that its a lie and I'm sorry but I don't beleive what she was sayin and if your girl trusts you then you should have nothing to worry about
