I prefer to shave but don’t always have time. It’d be nice if it just fell out in everyone and we didn’t have to deal with it anymore— on anyone women or men. But I accept it exists and don’t care if isoooe save provides they wash. But it’s way easier to keep clean if shaven.
It’s really annoying that it is somehow considered dirty on women but natural in men.
Though ideally armpit hair would be gone on everyone, and I appreciate when oeoooe shave, I’d prefer everyone not shave rather than deal with absurd rationals for obvious hypocrisy... too much mental pollution.
Just for funsies I let my armpit and leg hair grow back this fall to see what it was like. It's not all filled in yet, but so far I have had no problem wearing tank tops or strapless gowns. No one seems to have noticed or made mention of it except my boyfriend who kind of likes it.
Not sure yet if I will keep it this way. I'm just having fun with the experience.
I am glad you posted this, because it seems like it is being taken for a question like ingrown toe nails or something, its just body hair... From the pictures it did not seem that bad and honestly I would be fine if a girl did have body hair, thank you again, I was just too get a why would you ask such a question vibe
Um, no. I don't care how you spin it, it's gross, and I for one wouldn't want to be around a girl (especially in an environment where we're going to be sweating and her arms are exposed) who doesn't shave her underarms. Hair absorbs sweat, leading to the bad odor we all love to hate. If she's not shaving while she's covered up, that's one thing, because most girls I know won't shave unless their showing skin in a particular area. However, if you're going to be showing certain areas of your body like underarms, it's gross to not shave. It's unhygienic, and doesn't promote you as some proud feminist--all it shows is that you're too lazy to put some effort in and shave. Doesn't matter if that isn't true or isn't your motivation, that's how it's coming across, and no one likes it. I'm all for females feeling comfortable in themselves, but this is way too far.
@VIVANT Yes and no. I find it attractive when guys have trimmed, tamed or sometimes (in certain spots) no hair. Wild and growing free is gross regardless of sex.
That said, there are different beauty standards adopted by men and women. Most girls I know shudder at the thought of showing unshaven skin when going out, and think it's gross if a girl doesn't shave her pits. I personally think it's unladylike--I thread, wax, shave and laser because I like putting effort into my appearance and appearing feminine. Having more body hair, at least in the U. S. (and, I'd say, most Western countries generally) is a more masculine trait, plus again it's unsightly to me, so I don't want to deal with that. As a result, I'll consider someone more masculine-looking if they're unshaven and showing it off. Plus, like I said, taming or getting rid of hair shows you're putting more effort into your appearance, which is always nice.
@Shimy Ugh. For one, no, sweat doesn't smell itself, but again, when absorbed into hair it emits an odor. Yes, showering frequently will cut down on the bacteria on your skin, which is definitely behind why we smell awful when sweaty. But it's important to remember that hair holds odor EXTREMELY well (moisture, too, which in your armpits will lead to less than pleasant smells). As a result, you're more likely to smell worse if you haven't shaved your underarms than if you have, because between the hair trappings and the warm environment, it's a breeding ground for BO.
And why are you making this about sex? Like I said before, there are admittedly diff. beauty standards for men and women, yes, but I'd prefer a man who keeps himself hair-free or at least trimmed if solely for hygenic reasons. That said, more hair is generally considered (at least in the U. S.) as a sign of masculinity and can be seen as attractive on men, whereas women... not so much. It's just how it is.
No, that’s gross af. If a girl doesn’t wanna shave her legs, whatever, but not shaving your pits? Seriously? And they really don’t have any excuse not to because it only takes like a minute to finish both armpits because it’s such a small area.
@VIVANT I meant visually it’s gross. I wasn’t thinking about the smell at all. I have friends of both genders that shave their armpits, and friends of both genders that don’t. I have never noticed that the friends with it smell worse, and I really don’t think there’s any relevancy to smell unless you’re a very active person and do a lot of sweating, and even then people without hair sweat just as much and smell just as bad. And also, I’m pretty sure most people know it’s common sense to shower after a workout, so there’s that. So yeah, I was strictly referring to the visual unappeal. And my take on the matter is that visually it’s a lot more out of place on a woman than it is a man. Still looks kinda gross on guys, don’t get me wrong, but it grosses me out a lot more on women.
I didn’t say it was attractive on men tho. I just said it’s slightly less gross on men because it’s expected on them.
Yes, and so do all human being after they hit puberty.
About the "sweat absorbing hair" it's no issue if you shower regularly enough... Or is it only an issue for women?
No unfortunately I can scrub and shower twice a day and the smell won't go away. It has to do with individual body chemistry.
No, I always wax it. I like smooth, hair free body.
Arm pit hair is as functional as your fcking appendix in this day and age lol functional armpit hair my ass
it grows, it can be there. but I do shave it every few days. so, no, I don't have hair there atm.
Eeeeewwwwww absolutely not. I have no hair at all but on my head, eyebrows and eye lashes.
Nope, not for fashion or a statement or anything. I just don’t like the way body hair feels.
