Why don't women wear jewelry as much anymore?

I don't know, I LOVE jewelry, along with other accessories and clothes. I'm really just a crackhead for fashion tbh. 💀🤣
I don't think it adds value but I do think it adds more glam to an outfit. There is a time and place for different pieces though lol. Don't wanna get robbed or die over a fancy piece of jewelry. 👀👀👌🏽💯

I love wearing my rings, bracelets and necklace to work every day :)

I don't know man. I really love and embrace jewelry. I literally got a nose piercing and have a gold pendant on just because even on days if I'm ever rushing out in hurry and got no time to wear jewelry I still have something on and it makes me feel really pretty 😂 there's nothing to be ashamed of embracing jewelry.
I do believe there's a limit on how much you can spend, especially on expensive gold and diamonds because no matter how pretty it is, it's not a necessity.
Also in past men would buy their wives gold jewelry not just for the sake of decorating them... Women didn't even go out a lot so they didn't even get much chance to wear them, but rather as a store of wealth. It was like a bank. They kept their wealth in form of jewelry instead and in days if financial crisis they would sell some of the gold as needed. So it actually had a function rather than just status and beauty, and that function is being fulfilled by banking now so no one really needs to own jewelry anymore.
I personally only wear jewelry to special occasions, as it used to be throughout the human history.
Being heavy with jewelry makes me worry about loosing an earring, it's uncomfortable, and high-quality jewelry isn't cheap, so I don't want it to break it or be stolen from me (we have to put all jewelry off when we go to work, bcs while doing the sport we do we might injure ourselves or another - and women being active is another reason to not wear jewelry ig).
If I want to impress a guy, first I make sure that he knows what I normally look like - minimal to no make-up, casual clothes, no jewelry. Only after that do I try to impress with "what I'm able to look like" - I ask him to accompany me to a more formal occasion. No need for more "wow" in life, as we're not going to spend our lives in ball robes.
If I always wore full make-up and my fanciest clothes and then I showed up in sth comfortable after getting married, what would the guy tell me?
Cause it's overly expensive and fake. Also there's other things people find more valuable to buy. And, trust me- be happy that girls don't want jewelry as much anymore cause a lot of you guys wouldn't be happy with the purchasing/price tag lol But yeah jewelry is nice but I'm not super into it, my ears are still pierced but the only thing I wear now is my engage ring. Also i have to be careful with jewelry, a lot of jewelry contains nickle in it which makes me unable to wear it sense I'm allergic to it. And I'm not about to drop a lot of cash on jewelry anyway because it's just jewelry. I wish these companies would understand that, they would really be making a killing if they made their prices more reasonable. But no, we all all these jewelry stores taking up space in my already small mall that nobody is going to most of the time.
They don't? Oh. I wear a lot. Every time I go out (unless for a walk, excercising). It makes me feel good, happy.
As unimportant as it may be, award season in L. A. is a good marker of trends. After 9/11, jewellery and clothing changed that season. Also, when all the female artists decided jointly to wear only black that year (to symbolically represent equality, etc.), jewellery was much more sparse and sedate.
I don't know that these have anything to do with what's going on now though. The younger ladies on here should speak on this. Do you feel it's too girly? Or feminine? Impractical? Costly? (I would disagree with the latter. I have tonnes of cheaper costume jewellery, it's very easy to get. I choose the pieces very carefully though, and I rarely get rid of them. They are part of my life and memories of times past. I love them all, like little mementos.)
It’s hard to find mice stuff that suits me. There’s a ton out there but most of it isn’t for me. And I’d end up losing or ruing it. I’m always getting banged up playing lol
Once in a while I find so something that somewhat to me. But I don’t go out looking for jewelery
Women might not wear jewelry as much these days because of changing fashion trends and a move towards more minimalist styles. Many prefer simple, everyday pieces like a gold plated necklace that add a bit of elegance without being too much. Comfort and practicality also play a role in choosing fewer or more subtle accessories.
Earrings are the only jewelry women wear every day, everywhere. If you want to check the trending gold plated earrings, check this out. I also order from them.
Well you are 14 so I am not surprised at this lol. When you grow up you will understand that a womans value or status does not lie in the jewels she wears. The only status on womans jewerly is married status revealed by ring on her finger. Rich celebrities buy jewelry and wear them, but they are normal people like anyone else they enjoy looking good and piling up chains or jewels does not always look stylish or feel comfortable.
With the amount of crime going on where I live, it screams "I have money, please rob me!" Dressing down draws less attention and makes me less of a target. It's unfortunate I have to think that way, but it is how it is
I wear jewellery sometimes if going somewhere with friends but I'm allergic to it seems everything under the sun so it's not often
Wealth and status is being shown in other ways such a brand being worn and just small things worth a lot being put into pictures or videos. Also jewelry is worn but it’s less of it and it’s still absolutely expensive.
Probably because it's very expensive, and if they lose it somewhere, it's a big waste of money.
LIAR... MY SISTER'S ARE PRI. E EXAMPLE THAT THEY ARE WEARING IT U JUST ARNT SEEING IT!!
TRUST ME.. THEY ROCK IT ALWAYS. NEED TO STOP & LOOK AROUND EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE. & IF NOBODY IS WEARING IT, I GUESS NPW IS THE TIME TO START WEARING IT.
TRUST ME LAD THEY R MOS DEF WEARING IT!
(almost too much)
I don’t wear any jewelry ever. Just don’t care and don’t care. I’m a very simple person, don’t even have my ears pierced
When your pretty you don't need cheap trinkets to adorn you.
Personally I just never liked jewelry. I find it uncomfortable to wear and over the top expensive.
It's cool to be ghetto and plain looking these days! Hehe ;)
I think it’s would be because women *used to*. That is to say that old women wear jewelry and it marks them as old.
I think jewelry mostly looks dumb and it a waste of money. But especially when you’re going to wear a lot of it. It just makes you look old and or a dingus.
Well, for those who aren't rich, good jewelry is really expensive. As for the celebrities, I couldn't know, but I know if I was famous I would keep jewelry to a minimum to be more relatable to my fans, someone to wish you knew rather than someone you wish you were, you know? So maybe at least a few of them think that way?
I have a pair of earrings and a necklace that I wear, I like simple. I don't think jewelry defines me, how a woman presents herself is more important than what she wears
They blow so much money on hand bags and 1000 of new shoes that they buy for one day and never use again that they don't have the money for jewelry. And the students loans they have to pay for for their lesbian dance theory degree.
It's a lot of work and it can be annoying and get in the way it's expensive can be heavy can be annoying
I think women wear less jewelry because it's unnescessary. It doesn't add to our value, though it can be a great accent to an outfit. For me, it's just another thing to think about, and I'd rather not.
Unnecessary*
It’s pretty expensive a lot of the time so I guess people think it’s a waste to spend so much money on a tiny piece of jewellery
It's ostentatious, and the insurance costs a fortune.
I am afraid of being robbed. 💎
I don't have money to waste on it, most jewelry is crap and it is hard to find something nice. ... of course if received as a gift I would wear it!
I like small pieces, but too much jewelry looks rather low class on people. As a lot of newly rich people get excited about buying lots of gold. I prefer silver.
Fancy jewelry is exoensive and doesn't go well with clothes I prefer.
Because my jewelry is something my Mum brought me before she passed away and I am scared of losing it or breaking it
In my country they do... on their bodies (piercings). Totally unattractive, this adds nothing to their value.
My fiancée hates jewelry
She likes spikes and chains
More women are tomboys now
Like what lol
Maybe a necklace with chains and a pretty stone, or a ring with two small spikes
A. It doesn't matter
and
B. I wear a shitload of it
Indian women have such interesting jewelry, and I love choker on #3
It is in the way and don´t give much money into this things.
They realize the pagan roots to jewelry. Women have spiritually matured.
It doesn't add to our value. 14 year old boy🤦♀️
I like jewelry but I’m afraid it says rob me
I'm not into wearing jewelry
Cuz jewelry got more expensive
We do on occasions
I dunno but i wear tons of jewelry all the time!
I don't like jewelry. Never have.
Maybe because jewelry are often expensive?
It's expensive and unecessary.
