How you exactly define a "girly girl" or "tomboy"? Also, how do you call one girl that doesn't fit as any or fit equally both? picture to decorateBecause I see many questions about it, but I feel like most girls aren't specially girly or tomboyish, but more mixed. A girl can be very femenine looking and then have a very masculine personality or the other way.
I mean, a girl could wear femine clothes mixed with masculine clothes, she never wear heels or ballerina shoes but always trainers but with dresses and baggy manly jackets but her hair is long and decorated with bows and cute stuff and then her personality... she likes videogames and studies robotic engineering, loves watching football matches but also loves going to theater to enjoy musicals and read romantic stories. Would she be girly or a tomboy?
Anyway, I'd like to see your own thoughts and definitions. Every opinion is welcomed! Thanks in advance 😊
The differences are not just related to clothing style, the attitude and personality are much more important. Tomboy is a girl who enjoys rough, noisy activities traditionally associated with boys (opposed to them, girly girls are passive, timid, and prefer childish and girly stuff). Tomboyish girls are often boisterous, dominant, assertive and bossy (while girly girls are usually shy and submissive). Most tomboyish girls are quite energetic, sporty, and very self confident (unlike girly girls, tomboys are not insecure about themselves). Of course, we all know about the difference in fashion style and haircut, plus the fact - tomboys usually don't wear makeup:
Everything in between are just combinations between tomboyish and girly girls.
Would you say most girls fall in between? Because I know many femenine looking girls who are very noisy and energetic, or tomboy girls who are very shy ans not necessarily energetic.
I've never met a shy tomboy, if a girl wears only pants, that doesn't make her a tomboy, she could be just a nerdy girl who wants to look more serious or intellectual. But yeah, I agree with you, there are lots of girls who are a combination of both.
I don’t. I don’t believe it is useful. And wow I wish the word tomboy would die already. There is no situation where in describing the behavior of A particular woman you need to add boy into it. Same for men and girly man..

Girly girls are kind of primitive acting, very instinctual and not as intellectual. They're kind of the female version of a meat head jock guy, kind of impulsive full of testosterone maybe not overly bright. They usually go with guys like that too. Tom boys are more thinking creatures they might be business women, athletes, in the stem field I find them more attractive and more complex than simple girly girls.
Oh, for you beign girly girl or tomboy has more to do with personality than look. I find this interesting because other people base the difference more on looks
Oh, I thought girly didn't necessarily had to be childish but just very femenine, either more childish or more adult. I suppose more femenine adult looking would be something in between or either another type that would break this duality?
I go with the stereotype of girly girl and tomboy girl but i agree i think most of girls are in between. There's only a few girls who is truly a tomboy or a girly. Like me myself i always call myself half tomboy.
I still keep my long hair. Actually i love my long hair. I don't like makeup. I don't like dresses and heels. I play video games. I'm not into romance novels. I watch kdramas. I don't like sports. I like baggy clothes. I don't know how to fight. I don't have any male friend. I'm afraid of insects. I'm not strong, i can't lift heavy shits.
You can see that i have several girly behavior or liking and several tomboy behavior or liking. I think most of us have different percentage of tomboyness.
In my family we call them "sturdy girls." They love trucks and tractors but still enjoy playing baby dolls and Barbie's. They are athletic, can fix their own car, and still be feminine-wear full make up with a frilly dress. Kill the stereotypes already.. LOL
Girly girls are just girls who dress and act like women. They aren't afraid to do things like play with makeup and do their hair. A Tomboy just doesn't care about that stuff
Girly girl = high pitched voice and complaining about every little thing. Tomboy = normal voice and doesn't take bs nor lets things hold her back in her decisions.
Girly Girl - Likes motorcycles but only rides street or track because ew gross, Tom Boys like dirt bikes that get you all muddy and you get bugs stuck in your teeth and who knows what in your mouth.
