Do guys find it a turn off when a girl is unemployed?

When you want to date a girl and she tells you she is unemployed, is it a turn off/disappointment or like whatever?

I think the thing is that a lot of guys like ambitious girls who are go getters. Not only does it ensure that she's not a gold digger who's just going to leach off of his income, but it looks good if he ever chooses to introduce her to his parents. To be honest, it just sounds better when people have big things going on in their life. It makes them look like a well rounded individual who's not wasting their talent.

I noticed this because I took a year off of school after high school. I really needed it to get my life together and save up. Yet when people would ask if I was in school, I could sense the "Awww man" when I said no. Then when I explained I would be starting school the next year, it was like it became so much more acceptable. A lot of people wouldn't even ask me.They'd just assume and say "What schoold o you go to?" I think when people are working and/or in school, it just shows that they're doing big things with their life. There's a common misconception among our society today that if you are doing neither, you aren't doing something grand with your life because both work and school lead to a greater scale of living. Right now, I'm working two jobs and I notice the difference in the approval of guys. Before, I'd get that "oh that sucks a lot. what the hell" kinda vibe when I said I didn't have a job. Now it's like "Oh my gosh! You have two jobs! That's great!"

So, I think a lot of guys would like to see a girl they're interested in at least trying to get a job. Even with me, I'm very attracted to guys who bust their ass trying to achieve great things. Their ambition and determination to succeed is such a turn on.

if the guy is looking for marriage, long-term, somebody to spend the rest of their life with, I would say guys find it a turn off, but if it is just for dating, casually, most guys won't care

No, It's a turn off though, when she's not trying to do anything. Like if she's graduated high school. Not going to college or some after-hs-school. And sitting around the house living off of a roomate or best friend or something. That's a turn off. It doesn't matter to me if she doesn't work, but as long as she has goals and dreams. Isn't just sitting there in a bean bag chair waiting for some guy/girl/parents to support her ass all the way through life. I live with my parents right now, but I'm in college and I've almost finished a bachelors degree. As soon as I do, I plan to find me a job somewhere closer to a beach, and move there.

It depends on why your unemployed. Are you in school possibly? Or maybe going to be soon? Are you looking for a job and can't find one? All of those would be reasons that aren't a turn off. Or if you can't work due to a disability or something. If you're unemployed and just don't give a f*** or something then it's not good. I'm surprised more guys didn't say maybe.

As long as you don't sleep when we are working and expect us to stay up with you all night. I had that happen with one unemployed woman. I told her I couldn't hang out with her after 3 nights in a row because I needed some sleep. She got pissed and got another date.

Not really. And I'd be disappointed in girls if they find a guy unattractive if he doesn't have a job. Especially in our times of financial troubles and whatnot.

Its not a turn off because a job does not make a girl more attractive or pretty, so it wouldn't matter, but what does matter that her situation is not one she enjoys, but it still wouldn't be a turn off no way. x

We're in the middle of the Second Great Depression 14 million people lost their jobs in the crash and a stat which hasn't changed since then is that there are 6 people looking for work for every 1 job that's available.

I think it depends on the guy, but they are definitely more accepting about it than girls are about guys.

As long as he's working so that you can go on dates, it shouldn't matter. He know's she's at least trying, that's all that really matters (unless of course she isn't)

Absoloutley not. Especially since your 18-24. I'm 23 and I was out of work for almost 2 years.Its hard nowadays.Especially for our generation.
