Do guys hate it when girls use filters?

I like filters, they make my eyes look brighter

Some of them can be very cute and fun but often i see girls who try way too hard and it doesn't come off the way they intended.

Some girls just look like vane narcisistic wannabe insta models and pretty girls are a dime a dozen so im looking for a personality that stand out.

I know i shouldn't judge a book by the cover and most girls would probably write me off based on a quick glance too. But i can't help but think that someone who sits around spending most of their time taking photos in the same position with different angles and filters and faces etc just wouldn't be a very interesting person. Plus id expect a lot of self esteem and validation issues and i dont want to date a parrot.

Oof i feel like thats really mean filters aren't bad but they should be more of a toy. If you dont have a single non filtered photo then i feel like you might be insecure and i would personally stay away.

Honestly with the photo above i can tell its edited but honestly its no different to makeup which im sure you have lots of on in that pic and i hate makeup much more than filters.

I am a photographer and I appreciate and use filters to achieve certain things and create various effects depending on what I am trying to do with the photo. Is it art? Documentation? Evidentiary? Bureaucratic? Educational? Filters can be great for that and when masterfully used hard to tell that a filter was used. So yes, filters are good. But it depends on purpose. When you do this on something like a dating site it is a false representation. I'm not talking about filtering the light or even saturating color. I'm talking about changing more important things to the purpose. So-changing eye color etc is a minor transgression but still deceptive. Change something major and its like a guy writing he is a lawyer when he works at Starbucks. No harm outside of dating apps though.

Hell I hate it when anyone uses filters! Guy or girl. They're so fake!!! Don't you want others to see the real you? Just post a natural picture of yourself and let others judge you for yourself~

Depends on what the picture is for.

If you are using filters for social media pics shared with friends, it is none of my business weather you are my best friend or a complete stranger.

If you are using the image on a dating site, filters & makeup should never be used, as you are presenting a lie to everyone that sees you. If you frequently use a lot of makeup, says in the profile.

Filters have a tendency to make people look more like the Hollywood stars on magazine covers, which have been criticized for so long about the use of photoshop, so I see no value In filters that " enhance" your appearance. Use the ones that warp and twist it into something funny instead :-)

Depends.
Do I have a problem with it when girls use them to try out new looks for their social media site? No, it would just be like trying out different makeup looks.
Do I have a problem with it when girls ask "how I look with versus without makeup" or "how old do I look" with a filter? Yeah because you have to know that you can't get an honest answer and it looks like you're just fishing for compliments.
Do I hate it when Instagram models use them constantly to create an unrealistic standard of beauty that causes so many women to suffer from insecurities about their looks? Absolutely and I think this practice should be discouraged by not following models who do that.

It's not necessarily that guys hate it, just more that it's obnoxious and feels insincere. If you post a picture of yourself, you should be happy enough to post a picture of yourself unedited, not a fake version that replicates someone that you are not.

in a way it's lying, and lying easily breaks trust, so if they see that before they meet you it's slightly catfishing. If they see the pics after y'all meet in person I feel like it matters a lot less, so there's a bit of a double standard there

As a hobby I am a photographer. The use of generic filters and therefore no corrections applied with techniques or retouching software as far as I am concerned are quite worthwhile.
The various Gaussian smooth skin filters are obscene things. Looks like people have planed their faces.
Either things are done well or not done.

I like when a girl looks natural. I like this pic. It’s just when the filters (or even makeup) go overboard to make you look super glossy, feminine, or dramatic that you lose your natural look. I would say other than that filters and makeup make you look more attractive, but in my opinion I would rather have a girl not put filters on or even makeup if it will make them look any less natural than in this picture.

not just eyes look brighter, they change your whole face... even if just slightly, compared to your real life self, looks totally different..

Yes. I'm a graphic designer. When Instagram first offered all those filters and Snapchat offered head swaps I started to lose business. Those were skills I taught myself and sold them to people.

I wouldn't say they hate it completely. It's just mainly that most filters will smoothen out the face and give such expectations and they'll be disappointed. Use filters but be wary of the ones you use plus a none filtered pic doesn't hurt

Depends on the filter, I guess. Personally, I prefer to see a girl as she is, but a filter to bring out her eye color, out something like that, is actually quite helpful if she has nice eyes.
