Girls do you wear a groin guard in taekwondo, are groin kicks still a foul while sparring against a girl?

I mean a groin kick is extremely painful for guys but as far as I know obviously a 'well aimed' or a 'hard' kick to the groin can still hurt pretty bad and can drop you, despite the gender. So guys wear a guard but what about gals? I guess the female groin guard is still worn by many?

I did tae kwon do for 12 years and yeah groin kicks are illegal in nearly all martial arts sparring since there pretty dangerous.

The guys have to wear groin guards just incase but girls don't. While it would hurt to get kicked in the vagina (i imagine) as far as am aware it doesn't affected fertility or can hurt as much.

I personally don't know any women who wear groin guards but its up to you

No well that's correct, I did taekwondo for a year and I have got kicked there many times , sometimes it doesn't hurts, not even a little and I don't even notice, sometimes it hurts so bad that I need to take a break.

Female boxers shall wear breast protectors and groin protectors that are both properly fitted and a mouthpiece is also required. In day to day life I don't think any girl needs to wear them.

I never wear a guard when sparring, they're just so uncomfortable. I am often on the receiving end of many an "accidental" low blow and yes, they do hurt as well as being embarrassing, but a guards are not a 100% effective magic shield and are unpleasant to move around in so I would rather take my chances.

I don't think that's true, I did taekwondo for a year, I had taken many kicks below the belt, sometimes I went on sparring without even noticing sometimes I needed to take a break, so it depends how I get hit, sometimes it hurts like heck sometimes it doesn't, the same thing I have observed with other girls in my class too.

I did teakwondo for a few years back. and we did not wear that. only guys wore it and they only wore it during the tournament. during sparring girls and guys did not wear that at all. by the way I know the pain. but still we didn't wear. anyway if you want to wear it, go ahead..

@darline19 lol 😂 maybe you did tkd a few years back, it probably wasn't made then but now, yes it's available since its not fair that guys can wear it and become almost immune to groin hits leaving us vulnerable there with the only advantage of smaller sensitive area and less chances of getting hit because we don't have testicles hanging there but if someone gets you there right then it sucks. Oh I see, you know the pain.😣 And yup I think I should buy one, noone knows when it's gonna happen, I don't wanna take anymore risk.

noooo lmao. well actually during that time I almost burst into tears. but then I got so angry and the pain slowly disappear because my emotional took over the pain. -_- next time during sparring, I chose someone who quite gentle with me.. sparring is nothing. no point to be serious. I don't understand with some students wanted to be so serious. sparring is about to know where to hit, how to hit only 🙄🙄🙄 the time to be serious is only during tournament.

@darline19 Well I am actually 31 😅, divorced and without kids, so I don't really have to man to look after me but I think I can handle any situation alone, you know how dangerous our life is,😞 but I don't care, I want to be a badass, I am not afraid to go out for late night movies and if anybody tries to harm me, I will harm him more, I believe both men and women can have equal strength with a lot of efforts and excersises! People think women in average are born weaker then men in average which might be true but just because we were born weaker then men doesn't mean we can't build ourselves like a man, don't you agree? I believe I can beat the attacker if I ever gets attacked and I think taekwondo helps a lot.

ah I see that's nice. in my opinion man and woman will have equal size when the woman trained. especially when lifting weights. that's men job. they should do heavy job instead the women. when non trained girl do heavy work, then the girl tend to get hurt easily than non trained guy.

A kick to the groin was the cause of the worst pain and embarrassment that I’ve ever felt in my life. Either alone would’ve dropped me but both at the same time... I never wanted to feel the same pain again. I’ve worn a groin guard since then, and while some kicks to my groin will still put me on the floor, it’s a little less frequent now. And yes, groin kicks are always a foul. The thing about groin kicks is that no matter how much protection you wear, some will feel like nothing and others will make you unable to train for the day because you can’t get off the mat, so the best strategy is to dodge/block and not rely too heavily on any piece of equipment.

Most girls do not wear groin guards. It is actually very rare to see a girl wearing one. A kick in the female groin will hurt, but it will not be as devastating as a kick in the balls, not even close. And the groin guard is uncomfortable, so most women prefer not to use it. You will move easily and more comfortably without a groin guard. I've been practicing taekwondo for over 10 years, I rarely see a woman thinking that groin guard is necessary.
