I dislike that the term gold-digger has been flung on women. Woman are not gold-diggers, most women are naturally hypergamous. Not because we are all automatically materialistic, but because we want to find the perfect mate who can provide and protect our offspring. Women have always done this as a survival tactic in order to prevent their families from being killed or thrown into poverty. When women choose poorly in a mate cause the man is broke, steps out on her and the kids, and has no generational wealth handed down from her husband, men and society will let her know how badly she f*cked up and that it is her fault.

The only reason why that term gets slapped on women or why a lot of men hate hypergamy so much is cause men feel entitled. They want the most prettiest, priciest, shiniest, one of a kind object in the room but at a cheap price. And obviously there are some women out there who really are just in for the bag, I mean hello trumps wife anyone? But lets not pretend that men don't have their own version of hypergamy cause they most certainly do. When men have enough power, status, and money, they will get a woman with the looks to match.

In the first place, not all women are gold diggers which would imply that they place money above all other factors. That doesn't even apply to more than a minority of women. That is because, women also consider factors such as looks, brains, height, age, and personality. Certainly, few if any, women would consider a man much past his teens that has a minimum wage job if she is young and beautiful enough to attract men with high incomes.

For most, but not all men, it is not a young woman's money that he is after. That doesn't mean that he doesn't consider her money as an important factor. However, most men will choose a beautiful young girl over an unattractive or fat girl with money.

My mum always told me to never marry for money. My grandma did and she tried to push my mum to as well but my dad a was extremely poor and came from a working class background and they ended up getting married much to my grandparents disproval and now have 5 children together and my dad and mum are very happily married and have a beautiful life together.

Men who buy women's attention with money are just as bad as gold diggers because they are showing off their money too no average plain jane, they wanna make sure their money is well spent on a extremely beautiful looking girl they can't have lots of sex with. They are just using her for her looks so why shouldn't she use them for what they have to offer. Maybe if they decided to look for more normal looking girls they'd appreciate the fact he wanted to get to know her over the fact he has money.

I went on a date with a boy whose dad was a MP and is now one himself. He was boring af and the whole night all he did was show off the fact he'd got us vip passes to the concert and brag about everything he's done and has. He had no idea how to talk to people because his mummy usually did that for him.

Not sure who said 'All women are gold diggers', but of course that's not true. There are however, a large number of gentlemen out there with who may be politely referred to as having 'a face suited to radio, rather than television' who have an awful lot of cash - and seem to be... punching above their weight a little. Or they all have AMAZING personalities!!!
That's a pendulum that swings both ways, as you only have to look at successful women like Joan Collins et al, who seem to attract very handsome men who are less than half their age. I think we need to stop pretending it's not endemic! If you're born blessed with 'good looks', unless you're the exception rather than the rule, you're going to be marrying up, not down - for both genders.
