Girls, Why do some girls put pillows on their lap?

When a female friend of mine is hanging out with me and another mutual friend while we are watching tv, she tends to put pillows on her lap. Do many girls do this, and if so, why?

It could be seen as a subconscious act of protection of the personal integrity.

It indicates that the lap is a taboo zone and by putting a pillow or any other object, I am letting others know that they are not welcome to get close to the lap and to the intimate area (s) of the body.

In other words, keep your distance and don't come too close of my comfort zone and even less towards my private sphere.

It's somewhat comfy. Creates comfort. I enjoy it. It's like you get to cuddle an object.
