Girls, is my girlfriend overreacting by flipping out at me for asking her to hold her stomach in for a photo?

Okay recently my girlfriend wore an outfit that showed her stomach and we were taking a photo together and after we took the photo I asked her that if she is going to wear that outfit again or an outfit like that if she would “hold her stomach in” and she flipped out at me and got super mad and started crying. Now the reason I asked he to do that was recently she gained like 15 pounds and I don’t want people in photos to notice her weight gain.

You were incredibly rude for telling her to suck her belly in.
Gaining 15lbs isn't serious, unless she's obese and it affects her health.

The pandemic took a toll on all of us, who are you to udgee your girlfriend for eating a bit more?

What would happen if people noticed that she gained weight? Also, you do realise that you won't be able to hide her weight gain forever?
It really shouldn't be your goal to hide her weight gain. Talk to her about it in a respectful way if it bothers you a lot.

Don't tell her to suck her stomach in ever again. It's never okay.

I realise you think you are being nice but she knows she has gained weight and it is nothing to be ashamed of but you saying that will make her feel that way. It implies your embarrassed if her. I think you should apologise and maybe try explain why you did it but acknowledge that you now know it is wrong.

Women are emotional beings, although your intent was to notify her of your concern remember that it’s her body. If she feels confident to go out like that you should support her. You did choose her… I know men are straight forward but things like this should be said in a very SUBTLE way so next time try a pose or something that will help you out in the photo and she’ll notice and ask you later.

If she started throwing things, then yeah, that's an overreaction, but if she got upset and/or sad by it, then no.

It's actually kind of a dick thing to ask your girlfriend. The fact that you don't understand how it might upset her tells me you don't pay a lot of attention to her.

Okay to be honest I would find that rude and dump the guy. If she’s wearing a shirt like that she’s comfortable with her body and if a guy asked me to do that it kinda sounds like he’s embarrassed of my body. Just apologize to her.
