It's our fast food companies and the FDA.

Unlike foodies in the UK and other places were they regulate the sh*t out of everything, Amercian food companies can get away with a lot more over here. Making huge portions that no one could possibly eat, in order to make their food more appealing to the buyer. (aka more for their buck)
They also use decitful marketing techinques to diguse sugar under other names such as "dextrose", brand products with sugar in them as "sugar free" and using "low fat" labels to make you think your eating healthier, when really the package is packed with a lot of processed carbs.

The thing is though, other americans do realize this though - and we know it is a very unhealthy way of living, it's just not a prioty that most amercains are thinking of fixing right now. The truth is, most westners aren't fat because they want to be, or because they haven't tried but rather, because the food companies here in the US make it near to impossible to access or promote healthy eating.

in my opinion the average amercain doesn't even know how to cook a healthy meal for themselves, and while they have tried to teach us in school, it's hard to carry over when your constantly surrounded by it, and have to go out of your way/pay a lot of money for fresh fruits and veggies, when you can get a death burger for a dollar at mickey D's.

Maybe they're sick of having to deal with American men who are hypocritical.

I haven't seen for myself but often time cultures have stereotypes.

All I could hear was the the french are rude and do not shower, until I went to france. Sure there are rude people but not everyone, and hygiene is important to them, they all keep clean.
But to be fair most americans that I found here are fat which makes me wonder... but I have to go there and see the cause myself.

I used to live in the states, japan and the uk in my childhood, lots of travelling, I'll say this American women are too fat, but so are British women. As for why they're so fat, 2 things

I've never been there, but from what I've heard American people in general are overweight. It could be because they like to put sugar in just about everything they eat, and their servings in restaurants are HUGE. It also doesn't help that the "fast food" industry began there, and thrives like nowhere else on earth.

It’s simple, look at the portion size and nutrition of women of other countries then look at ours, and on top of that this PC culture that’s growing in the West conditions women to accept themselves as being overweight all in the name of “body positivity”, that’s why someone like Lizzo can do no wrong. Healthy food is more expensive and often far less convenient than fast food. A good portion of the US is in poverty so fast food is an easy target for families looking to save money. Why American women? They're part of the population I guess

People are starting to conclude more and more it's the preservatives in the food that causes weight problems in America. Companies that make food in the U. S. are shipped all over the country and keep in mind the U. S. is a Big Country so Preservatives are needed to keep food fresh. This doesn't even include the Desk Jobs people have which could be a Double Whammy.

It may be growth hormones that are fed to animals and GMO foods that affect your weight in ways that are natural food do not. Lack of activity such as riding in a car instead of walking may contribute to it.
