Americans are overweight in general, it’s not just women. There are honestly a bunch of reasons. Our schedules are very busy (50 hrs of work is average, and I know tons of people who work more than that), so we don’t often have time to prepare healthy meals. Many of us live in food deserts, and even if we have the time to cook healthy meals, we may not be able to afford the ingredients. Our neighborhoods our seldom walkable, and even if we do have a gym membership, we are likely too busy/tired to actually use it. And don’t even get me started on our healthcare system and the logistics of getting the medical care necessary to keep your weight down. Basically it’s much easier to gain weight than it is in much of the rest of the world, and it can be very hard to lose it. It’s not like we don’t know how to stay thin, we just have a lot stacked against us

Most people in the US are not overweight, but most skinny attractive women in the US don't use dating apps (most of them are already married by mid 20s to early 30s, and most of the ones who are still single will date in person, not online).

Tinder is a hookup app, not dating app. Most people here view dating apps as something only losers use, but pretty much everyone here frowns upon hookup sites because having casual sex is stupid.

Only our worst people (sluts and players) use those, and people with severe insecurities like the obese or ugly who are desperate for even a one night stand.

It wasn't always like this, dating sites used to be something only smart people used. But this isn't the case anymore, because matchgroup buys up all of them, and they are a public company, meaning they have public purchasable stock (aka shareholders), and US laws enforce them always getting a reliable cut of profits in courts, so they have to string users along now, hiding their matches intentionally, so they keep paying the subscription forever, otherwise the shareholders drag matchgroup's owner into court.

Maybe in other countries the laws protect users against that, be we have no such protections here, and the cost of running a dating app/site server for 300 million people or more is so expensive here that only the scam artist greedy public stock companies can afford to do it.
