I'd really appreciate an insight to this situation that happened to me?

So at my workplace I had a crush on this female coworker who I'd usually chat with from time to time. Some coworkers started teasing me about her. At first it started like play, like getting me to admit that she's "hot" and all that, but I just kept being neutral. Fst forward, about two weeks later I was working with a coworker who's a senior at the company and I asked him if dating is an okay thing at this company and he said that it is, that the company is not too strict about it. Then he proceeded to ask me who I wanted to ask out on a date? I replied saying I was just curious. Then he pressed again and asked if it was the girl I had a crush on. At this point I gave in and told him. But stressed that he shouldn't tell her yet (they are very close friends). He urged me further to ask her out, and i replied saying we'll see. For some reason I suspected that he had already told others about this and possibly the girl as well. Later that day he asked again if I was gonna ask her out the next day (i worked her the next day for an hour usually when she comes in before I go home) I still replied, we'll see. The next day comes and I was working day shift with a female staff, which the girl crush usually comes later in the evening. During the shift, the female staff got a call from the girl crush and she went outside to answer the call. She came back and told me that the girl crush will be a little late. When the girl crush came in, she avoided eye contact with me unlike before, and went straight to the female staff and they started chatting. I chipped in their small talk here and there, but I could tell something was off. After an hour, which it was my time to go home. I said my goodbyes and left.
Yo please help me understand this. An insight to what's happening here will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance (I'm 34yrs old, and not 18yrs by the way)
