A girl rejected me because she has a boyfriend, then later she told me she missed me and sent some of her pictures, why did she do that?

The story might be complicated. So I met this girl a year ago, we met online. I was interested in her (I'm an engineer, and she's an artist). I am so curious about her, explain I can say she is a "lowkey" girl who keeps her personal life and a little bit innocent (sorry, this is the only word I have to describe her), and I rarely like a girl as this much. Three months I got to know her I got a chance to visit her city for two months for some works. We hung out a couple of times, and we are connected pretty well even though we didn't speak the same language, but we both tried to understand. I told her that I liked her at the end of my trip. I told her every reason why. But then, she told me that she could not be more than a friend and see me as a friend, then suddenly she told me she had a boyfriend.

Long story short, I'm trying to accept that. Yes, I kept her sometimes updated like a regular friend. I faced it like an adult.

Six months passed, out of nowhere, she texted me that she missed me and asked me if I would be cool for a video call. And yeah, I accept it. I don't see the pain from that. We talked for hours and talked about our new life in a new country and our family. After that call, I haven't contacted her yet again.
Until…
Yesterday she sent me a video of her playing a musical instrument with her small laugh at the end of the video. I asked her, "Is that you playing with short hair?" It seems like she wants to show her new skill and hair.
Then she sent me her selfie with new hair. I don't understand. To be honest, I started to receive mixed feelings again, I don't know; I begin to get the sense to get her again, and I felt so frustrated. What does she want? She knew my feelings and yet kept doing that. Does she do that with other guys too? To get attention? Or she likes me? I don't understand. I hope someone can answer.

I agree with @boggboss here. She's in a relationship, knows your feelings for her, and she's kind of using you for attention. It's weird, as she's in another country and can't really use you as a 'backup' being thousands of miles away, so it's quite strange behaviour.

My advice, be civil, but this is going to hurt you if you get too emotionally involved with her again. This happened to me when I was 16, she left, went over a thousand of miles away back home to Southern Europe and then did the same kind of things, whilst with a boyfriend. Move on, distance yourself, but stay civil. If you can't do that without feeling hurt or depressed, maybe consider cutting her off. But that's a drastic final option, if you cannot move past your feelings for her.

These sort of clowns tend to be the ones that tease and act smart, but jump ship as soon as another guy/girl takes their fancy.

Best keep your eyes open if you take her up. Just don't expect her to be "the one"
