Why would a pretty girl put another pretty girl down?

My friend picks on my insecurities and flaws a lot. Like she jabs at things she knows I’m insecure about constantly. Other people say it’s jealousy from her but we’re both pretty, so I don’t know why she would be jealous. Can you help me?

Some (not all) women are catty and competitive towards women they feel insecure about. Rather than being inspired to improve themselves, they instead seek to tear down those they think are better than them. At least, this has been my observation from afar.

Yeah but I’ve also noticed this same friend puts down random strangers looks. Like there will be a happy couple and she’ll say “that girl is NOT good looking enough for him, he can do much better.” Like I find it rude af why is she saying that when they’re clearly happy
