Why Do Girls Put Other Girls Down?

to make themselves feel better?

Like when they ask a question on here, they word it so they can get the answers they want?Or if they give the fat girls battle cry?Or put down skinny girls and automatically label the girl anorexic?

EX: If a girl on here asks "Do guys like skinny girls"

Girls will start answering saying "No,real men love curves" "guys like girls with curves" but when guys and girls say "curves" they talk about two different things.Women seem to correlate curves with being fat where as guys seem to correlate curves with bone structure whether skinny,"average" or muscular...

I understand at times everyone will be down and need reassurance but I notice this is a trend by women.Why?

Girls look for flaws in other girls to make themselves feel better. These girls they look for flaws in are beautiful and so it makes her wonder "Am I pretty at all? do I compare to her?" So she compares herself, looks at every inch of that girl and finds the worst thing she can find. It's horrible, but girls these days are very insecure which is understandable in my opinion.

The other day I went to the mall and I passed by this group of girls who in my opinion weren't all that hot and one of them said "she is so skinny!" and I turned around and they acted like they didn't say anything. Yeah, smart to say that while the person is within earshot. In the end, it made me sad. It made me think "maybe I am too skinny..." and I felt really bad. So then I started to think about those girls, they didn't look that good so maybe it was jealousy? I searched for their flaws and found that they weren't that attractive and just jealous. I'm not a pompous person, I'm just more insecure than most I think. It's like the cycle continues. Girls learn to rag on other girls to make them feel better because they've had crap talked about them before so they need to make themselves feel better by comparing themselves to others and choosing their flaws.

However, NEVER EVER do I post answers on a question saying "real men love this or that" I'm not like that, I do it in matters of my own opinion for example: "It really depends on the guy, but I'd say most guys might prefer a girl who is not too skinny, yet not obese and unhealthy. But as I've said, depends on the guy!"

Think of the world we live in for a second. Think about the posters in the mall, the magazines, catalogs, models, think about all of it. The thought pops into your head "she's so much prettier than me! I was I had her eyes, her hair.." so then they feel bad and they need to find someone to compare themselves to to make themselves feel better. Don't call girls a bitch (not saying that you did at all) for thinking this way, it's just the way girls are. We don't receive a lot of compliments on how we look and self-esteem and self-concept is low for most girls though they tend to hide it and secretly point out the flaws of others to feel better. Now, we all know this is WRONG to do. Totally wrong! People I think have lost what it means to truly be beautiful. In my opinion, you're beautiful when you feel happy and you're smiling and having fun. Sure makeup may help you be more outgoing because your facial flaws are hidden, but you need the personality to go with it and sometimes you don't and you need the ego boost to help you feel better and you pick on someone's flaws.

I've been called shorty, skinny, toothpick! and it makes me feel really, really bad. So then you got to think back "why do I pick on others flaws?" Because it makes me feel better about how I look, that I'm not the only one. It's never right to put people down, but really you just keep your thoughts to yourself and believe in yourself

i remember in school there was always this girl (she was fat)...she would always have something negative to say about my weight...like "You have a boys body", "you should eat everything on your lunch tray", "god what size are you -1" "do, you throw up, how do you stay so skinny", "you have chicken legs"...just really rude and annoying sh*t, and I would usually have a comeback but whole back a little because she was fat, and I don't really like making fun of fat people, I mean its not their fault they like to eat..but anyway one day she just really annoyed me and I was like "You're just a jealous fat bitch, why don't you shove your finger down your throat, and maybe you'll feel better fatty mc fat ass" omgosh you should have seen ppl's face they were mad at me! because she cried!...like how come she can call me all these names and the one time I really get her good she gets the pitty!...and I admit that was really mean but god this girl was a bitch to me for no reason..i did feel bad after though AND I apologized lol

I have always thought things like this (just this type of behavior in general) is a deep thing. Like on the surface I think yeah its insecurities or a need for reassuring, but I always wonder why. Because I don't know what happened in this persons life to act this way, and I don't know how I would feel or what I would do if I were in their position. What if something truly messed up happened to them that you don't even know about, and they are the type that can't handle their emotions well. Or maybe they didn't have parents to teach them some important morals that so many people lack these days. I just think there are so many reasons for all the actions everyone does, whether it be start an argument with someone online, cut you off in traffic, "accidentally" shove past you in the grocery store... Just everything. So personally when people act this way I just overlook it most of the time (Unless it was something serious or harmful to me or someone I carea bout), but that is just my opinion.

Drummerdude is correct; females are hard-wired to be competitive with each other in securing a desirable mate and producing equally, if not more desirable and successful children. Given this, females will tend to befriend each other in order to facilitate that end and will inevitably resort to machiavellianism and intrigues against each other to that end.

In contract, consider males, who will befriend each other for other reasons based more on comradery, and other associated virtues. They are largely indifferent toward each other-men are more arbitrary and believe in "you live by the sword, you die by the sword", whereas females are more emotional/emotionally unstable and regard each other as only a means to an end.

That's my understanding of the female psyche; hopefully it doesn't offend too many.

Women are like that by nature, whether they are willing to admit it or not, they are always comparing themselves and to others. It's the only reasonable explanation I can think of. They want to seem better and want to be seen as prettier or cooler in the eyes of other people instead of staying cool in their own eyes and living with that. They want to feel superior and better than other girls, so they put them down ad try to make them seem lower than them.

just a man's opinion I have no clue if it is right but that's my reasoning for it. Any girls willing to back me up on this?

Girls are used to being treated like goddesses by desperate guys, now days. Both post-70s feminism, and the placement of the post-permissive society ensured that guys are desperate to treat women like perfection, partly because they want to have sex with them, feeling the reason they haven't had sex with them yet is they aren't treating them well enough, and partly because they feel they have to, because they're girls. I mean, when a guy plays guitar, you think 'he's probably a wanker', when a girl plays guitar, you think 'WOAH SHES AMAZING'

As such, girls have learnt how to word things to get guys to exalt them to the highest, and to get girls to agree with them, because you need that too, nowdays. So, y'know. Its just default.

I will not put others down, unless they seek some emotionally manipulative reassurance from me, I refuse to tell a fat girl that she doesn't look fat. I refuse to tell a fat guy that he can't see his penis from his fat belly. I refuse to tell a guy he is good in bed when he is actually crap. I refuse to tell my mother I love her when I don't. I won't lie to make others feel better, I'm not going to be the one feeding people's fluffy dream world's.

Because it's an ongoing war that girls have waged on each other. Every girl faces so much pressure to fit in and be accepted, that other girls are willing to do what ever it takes to make themselves stay afloat within the competition.

I have found that many girls will make excuses to make themselves feel better. Example: A fat girl is angry that the in shape girl gets all the attention. Instead, of the fat girl doing something about her weight problem, she's quick to make an argument that people don't like her curves, so it's immediately there problem. Whereas, her weight problem is actually her problem.

It's a shift of blame so to speak. Seeking assurance is common among people with low self esteem and I've seen it before. Girls are extremely judgmental of each other and will stop at nothing in order to make themselves seem more desirable than other girls.

I'm always stunned when I see statements or questions like these. Maybe I'm just super lucky or something but the majority of girls and women I've met have *not* been like this...ever.

I agree with others to an extent that it could be due to human nature and insecurity.

And maybe the way they're raised too. Like I know in my family my parents would never ever tolerate any putting down of others or teasing. Respect towards others was always emphasized...so I've always lived by these rules. Others might have had different upbringings.

you should just be flattered, them taking the time of day to scope you out and look closely for flaws just means their insecure and have to look for things wrong with a person that and jealousy

I don't know. The girls at my work are the same age as me and they constantly put down other girls and guys. I half wonder what they say about me when I'm not around.

Not all women do this, but it seems the "High School Queen Bee" types just never grow up.

when girls answer another girl's question, they're more realistic than the guys.

and likewise, when girls answer a guy's question, they're more gentle and form their answers to what he wants to hear. while guys are more harsh

i am one of those girls that is skinny.every one I know then labels me as anorexic to make them selves feel better.they are heavier than I am and being slim makes them feel fat so they label me as anorexic to think that I'm TOO SKINNY and that I need help to make them selves feel as if they are perfect and don't have problems.

its basically makes them think very fully of them selves.those people just have low self esteem and want to compliment them selves.

i don't do this much but I can admit that I've done it a few time.

I'm skinny and have been skinny my whole life but I have always dealt with criticism,people in school used to call me anorexic and tell me I needed to eat but I eat so much.It's annoying because I know if I called an overweight girl fat I would get in trouble

Of course it's to make them feel better, and by getting guys to say curvy, they get a confidence boost and think guys like them over the thin girl that they're obviously jealous of (They don't realize curvy is a bone structure).
