Why do girls put me down?

Ok, I know I am attractive... Not drop dead gorgeous, but there are many features that I have that I love! However..... I'm beginning to notice that I never get compliments from females... Or even my girl friends. I've even had girl friends try to put me down. But I get compliments and hit on from guys all the time.

If I like a feature on anyone, boy or girl, I make sure to let them know. But with other girls, this never happens to me. It's like I get totally opposite reactions from guys and girls. Does anyone else experience this??

because they're girls and girls do that shit...
guys actively want to make a girl happy, sometimes even at their own expense. girls, only ever want to see themselves happy. and they play these stupid manipulative games because thats what they've been told by other women... they think if they put you down it will make them prettier, or if they hold off on their affections it will earn them more... they think its like the stock market, where you can just drive up the price by making the shares seem rarer, but in the end that just makes you a bitch.

girls are self absorbed. period. thats just it. i dont fucking know why, call it cultural, biological, whatever the fuck kind of reasons, i dont know. even people who study female sexuality say there's an inherently narcissistic aspect about it. like its about being desired rather than doing the desiring... even if its some hunky awesome dude with abs, you know, he's going to be ugly to them if he doesn't place them on a pedestal like they do. so they're only ever going to compliment him in the context of what he can do for them, and they're never going to compliment YOU because you can't... because they don't swing that way. You'll have better luck getting compliments from lesbians and even they will put you down if they're jealous of your beauty.

Seriously - girls can be so mean. We're very jealous people and sometimes we have a hard time acknowledging that another girl has something that's better than what we have.

It's really great that you're so confident and kind to others by giving compliments. Try not to worry about it and keep being a ray of sunshine to other people by complimenting them! Don't let pettiness get you down.

The jealously thing is so weird to me... I have friends who are smarter, funnier, prittier, etc than me, and I always compliment them! Thanks for the opinion :)

I know right. I used to be a very jealous girl so I can speak from experience. I've always had serious problems with being insecure, and I wouldn't compliment other girls just because I was always comparing myself to them. But then I learned to love myself, and now I see that all women are beautiful and it's really not a competition!
