Why are some girls more comfortable becoming mistresses rather than wife?

This simple guy was dating a stunningly beautiful girl. They were about to get married as well and already living together. One day she goes out of town on a business meeting. On return, she tells him "I met this fabulously rich guy who wnats me to become his mistress. He had already given me a diamond ring and got me a flat. Honey, you are a good guy but I am meant for richer guys" and walks out on him.
Is it normal for some girls to behave this way?
What should he do if she wants to come back to him after the rich guy gets bored of her?

I don't think that's normal but I'm sure it does happen. I'm no expert on human psychology, especially female psychology, but I do have an opinion.

Being a wife involves long-term commitment, and giving up control; rather than making your own decisions, a wife is in a partnership, where opinions and decisions are shared. It also means monogamy, which can lose its excitement over time.

Being a mistress involves little commitment; the woman can stop being a mistress whenever she wants. She's still totally in charge of her life, making her own decisions. And if she wants to have sex with other guys, she's free to do that.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not advocating for Mistress over Wife. There are many advantages that a Wife has, major ones being increased security and emotional satisfaction. I'm just positing on why some women might rather be a mistress.

Because money, money is a huge motivator.

As for side chicks who aren't even after the money, being the "side piece" is a blatant confirmation that they are being desired.
The person is risking things in order to have sex with them, so there is no mistaking that there is a genuine desire for them in there, somewhere.

A very insecure person who normally wonders about whether their partners are actually into them.
To someone like that, a cheater gives them a lot of validation.

That, or they aren't even necessarily insecure, they just enjoy the power and validation from seemingly being desired to that extent.

Same for some men, each tother own but in the end its the guy or women that's cheating to blame not the mistress
