Ignoring the obvious problem of being a cheating enabler, women tend to be fine as a mistress up to around their mid thirties, then a lot, though not all, start to quickly experience decrease of interest from men and suddenly realize they failed to achieve long term stability. The fact that long term relationships and marriages don't always work should not be an excuse to waste your opportunity and give up without trying. If all that life is to you is a bit of excitement early on, then I suppose you could say that ends justify the means. Otherwise being a mistress is a short term game plan at best. Contributing to the ruination of other peoples long term investment doesn't help.

Yeah all those hours of effort she put in sitting on her fat ass watching Netflix and smoking pot while I worked my fingers to the bone to provide an income really showed how much "pain and time" she gave me.

Seriously tho, this commenter is acting like all women ever do is give and give while guys are nothing but a hinderance who never, ever appreciate them. Clearly a type of person who can't look themselves in a mirror and see their own fault lines.

I don't know, maybe for some people? But The main reason why I "bother" with men is to have children. And children need both parents so I wouldn't consider beind a mistress in any case. Children need a stable family and also, families are the building blocks of a society so I want to have one. I'd rather be part of the solution than part of the problem.

I would say only if you're not looking for a true relationship and are only in it for the sex, and also if you have questionable enough morals to interfere in another person's relationship (I don't care if you know the woman or not and feel it "isn't your problem", what's wrong is wrong regardless).

The mistress will lose out. She's more than likely gonna live past that point single. Even if she gets a guy to reproduce with her later the respectable men will want nothing to do with her. She's basically just a prostitute getting things just for being easy. But she's never going to really be valued or looked on in a favorable light. Most guys will see her as a disposable object, not a person. If you call that winning then I guess she's a winner. But imho it's more like being a loser. Getting hung up on objects that can't bring you long term happiness and lose value. How many pornstar sob stories you gotta hear about being lonely and miserable at the end to see the pattern of living a life for sex and money?

Some men are careful to not have offspring with them.
mistresses often use their youth and beauty to “trap” men who are sleazy or haven’t marriage issues…
Youth and beauty fades…

Marriage can become a trap for many people. If they have a happy marriage then there's no need for a mistress.

If you are a mistress then you probably don't want marriage. So its better for you. You made no promises to his wife, and you don't own her anything. He's the one that's broken his promises. So hell yeah have fun.

If you're the mistress, you have to live with the knowledge that you are not important enough to the guy for him to want to actually be in a relationship with you. If all you want is sex, then yeah I guess, but there's more effective ways to get your needs met that don't involve the possibility of ruining your reputation if it gets out. Generally the lower on the pole the better man you can get. Ie a side piece can get a man way out of her league whereas a wife will get a man far less than what she's probably accustomed to dating. So there's that aspect to it. This is simple economics.
