There's an actual passage in the bible (Ecclesiastes) that says a man and woman will leave their (childhood) homes and create a new home and life together. It DOES NOT say "move in with her family" or "move in with his family".

This doesn't mean the extended family should be estranged, but just not up each other's asses all the time. (1) It's annoying to have a bunch of people giving contradictory input when you actually have your own life plan and (2) you're not starting a family when you know your parents or in-laws can hear you hitting that headboard into the next room...

Having said this, SOME couples do make things work later on in their lives (after kids) because their parents are elderly and need care. By then you have your own life settled and the parents are dependent on you for things.

In my opinion moms usually don’t let their little boys grow up. There’s no problem a man having a healthy bond with his mother the problem is the moms usually keep treating the guys like little boys most of the time and sometimes that doesn’t allow them to grow up because they can’t detach from that and actually be grown man. I’m not saying that all are like that but in my experience the guys that I have come across with it’s like that and usually that doesn’t sit right with the wife.

I lived with my mother in law for 5 years.. It was annoying and they used to tell me what to do all the time/ how to dress and she used to always ask my husband to do stuff for her. I thought when we moved out it would get better because he had 2 other brothers and one who still lived with her, but no it only got worse. I never will ever marry or live with a guy who has a mother that he see's on the regular.

Living with in-laws can create issues like a lack of privacy and them giving unsolicited advice. Because they are related to your husband, it can be a challenge to try to set boundaries.
