Lots of reasons. Almost too many to fathom.

The first one that comes to mind is that maybe a person was mistreated by someone in their life (be it a parent, sibling, partner, etc) n it's a coping mechanism.

I can't speak for ALL humans, but I don't believe that people are born to be mean asshole pricks of space-wasting oxygen consumers.

Behavior like that is taught by others who have learned how to behave that way.

Quite unfortunate, the viscous repeating cycle, innit?
