What's up with my coworker?

Started a new job, and me and my coworker got along pretty well. She got a boyfriend, I got a girlfriend.

With me and my girlfriend, we can have opposite gendered friends as long as they respect boundaries. We're not controlling or jealous.

So this coworker tell me the same shit. She's allowed to have guy friends, most her friends are guys, and we exchange numbers.

In person she was cool as hell, but then when I text her "Yo, it's pouring it's ass off, I started hydroplaning on my way home when driving" she texts me back "You can't just keep texting me, my boyfriend don't like it"

I just deleted her number because I figured she'll wind up being a weirdo. But she literally told me her boyfriend was cool with guy friends. I wasn't flirting with her or going over boundaries. Shit is just weird.

That is really strange indeed. I'm not sure what the point of her exchanging numbers if she cannot receive texts from you or guys in general, even though that is what she indicated.

I think one of two things might have happened. She was "in the moment" when she gave the number to you. Perhaps you were chatting and all was good and she thought "hey, what the heck" no worries here.

The other thing is she misspoke for what her boyfriend actually allows. It is easy to speak for someone else, only to find out that they really aren't okay with it. Sounds to me like best course of action is keep it professional at work and nothing more.

That said, I don't get it. I have many guy friends. My SO has many friends that a girls. I don't give a toss who he talks to. I'm not insecure like that. In fact, his best friend in the world (other than me!) is a girl from back home.

I couldn't care less that he is best friends with her. I very much look forward to meeting her later this year. People who get upset or try to control who someone talks to are just insecure and need to grow up.
