I've noticed, women are really bothered by the term "Cougar" why is that? Does it seem desperate or shameful? Help me out Ladies?

I would say because a man with younger woman are praised where a woman young man is called cougar so more the difference in response

So basically women take being called cougar to heart versus just being older women that like the company of younger men. Men definitely have been with younger women, and that is worked out and they've also been called names just the same. Cougar was the friendly name that they did not get

Well I would say men are expected where women aren't so I still feel that women see it like double standard

Okay so reverting back to your first statement which makes me still think about my question in general why is it that cougar is insulting though or ladies feel it offended by it. When it's not something that is offensive it's actually something that even other ladies cheer them all about. No more no less than the same thing that men get s*** on about for having a young woman or some may call it a sex kitten which is definitely much more rude sounding than cooler and that is for young person. I don't know maybe I'm just trying to gaze the level of sensitivity therein and whether or not it's necessary but I think sometimes and maybe it's just what Americans alone everybody wants to be young so therefore in itself may be why. Cougar just makes them sound older before that time and perhaps they think of it as a judgment versus a compliment. But even then when men get younger women they also throw shade in the sense to say but you couldn't find no one your age

Well I don't know much about guys being called that a negative way possibly cougar has been seen as negative way so just stuck over time guessing

Yes, it does. As a guy getting hit on by 45-55 year old women ALL the time, Cougar is not flattering because they prefer younger men.
—Same way the old Mentor farts I work for attract the 20-29.

Wow, lol! Different thought. When I was in my teens and twenties I was always into the fine older women. They were pretty and had a certain flair. I guess at all is about perception and preference.
