@Smashingdoozy Its a medical procedure which serves no medical or hygienic purpose, it's purely cosmetic, can keep him from reaching full size, and cause the most sensitive nerves in the penis to become desensitized, thus reducing pleasure later in life.

I'm all for abolishing both female and male circumcision.

I think the circumstances surrounding it definitely need to be changed, I think it should personally only happen because of medical necessity. But that's probably a big ask for America (very stuck in their ways). I've heard the process after giving birth to a boy is not really do you want them to be circumcised it's more they will be circumcised unless otherwise told. Which really should be the other way around.

@Smashingdoozy actually, not terribly. It is an elective procedure done on a minors genitalia which reduces their ability to enjoy sex long term and done without their consent and generally done without anesthesia...

The primary difference is a racial/ cultural one. Female circumcision is done by Muslims and so it gets the criticism it deserves. (I am in no way detracting from how evil that is, I couldn't imagine if my parents had my clit cut off for their religion) where male circumcision, which results in a desensitized head (same nerve endings as the clit) is supported by the Judeo-Christian faiths and, as such, received little notice because according to some of them, "God said so"

If an 18 year old wanted it (either) then break out the scalpel... But keep it away from MY clit! But it's an issue of consent. And to that end, to outright ban something such as female circumcision based on OUR perceptions or ideals IF the patient provides informed consent would be a violation of her bodily autonomy not unlike the right wing folks wanting to ban abortion and birth control or the laws involving voluntary sterilization.
