I suspect they get tired of hearing about it. Gold diggers do exist and guys need to watch out for them. But there is no need to be constantly bring it up. The talk about it is out of proportion and gets old after a while.

I think there are two primary reasons. First, it hits a little too close to home for many women, so they get defensive about it.

And second, most women still want a man who will provide for them, even though they are reluctant to admit that today. And that doesn't make them gold diggers, but a lot of guys call that gold digging. And that is a backlash to all the "women need a man like a fish needs a bicycle" bullshit, so it is somewhat self inflicted.
