When a girl takes hours or even days to reply a guy’s text messages, but she puts efforts in her responses with lengthy replies, updates about what she is up to, and follow-ups, does it mean the girl is not interested, genuinely busy, or playing hard to get?

That, to me, indicates she is busy. If it takes her hours to respond, at least she is doing so at all. If she doesn't respond at all, then there is an issue. The fact that you say she puts thought and effort into her responses when she does decide to message is good.

If she didn't at least have some level of interest, she wouldn't be bothered to put any thought or time into a lengthy reply. This tells me she is likely busy and just doesn't have time to respond right away.

This is were you don't pressure her and accept the fact that she will write back when she does have time and at least is thoughtful with those replies. I wouldn't over think this too much.
