I love how its mostly the older men saying its fine and they like it... I hate it. Havin women walk past and naked. Thankfully I changed to a gym where there's 6 little bathrooms you go in that has a toilet, sink, shower and a nice place to put your bag and towel so you have total privacy.
Makes sense. Why is being naked around others so bad? Younger men don’t like being compared while older men are comfortable with themselves and confident. Women tend to be more worried about their looks so it makes sense they would be worried about it.
It’s like shitting in a public restroom. Forgive the crude example. When you crap you might try and be quite and flush early to avoid embarrassment. Why? Everybody without question poops. Everybody gets a bad case of gas at some point. Everybody eventually gets cellulite. Everybody’s body ages. Everybody’s hair grows. Everybody’s body sweats and smells. Everybody has either a penis or a vagina.

I think walking around naked in a locker room like an elephant swinging his trunk from side to side like a pendulum is ridiculous and completely unnecessary. I swam competitively from ages 8 to 14 and have been dealing with locker room behavior from an obviously young age. I recall feeling self conscious and embarrassed having not yet hit puberty and was often surrounded by grown men sporting hair from head to toe. It bothered me slightly less as I got older…but I never engaged in the practice of walking around commando. I would have my towel on, and when it was time to slip my boxers on, I would make it a very quick and discreet process. And even doing so, I still felt eyes on me Everytime…. guys are so freakin’ weird. Thank God I don’t deal with locker rooms, pools and saunas anymore. I tried for YEARS to analyze the mentality behind displaying your nude body to other men… and to this day haven’t figured it out. Is it an exhibitionist thing? Macho or masculine? Are they proud of their junk and want to let it all hang out? Is it comparable to the hideous men at nude beaches who shouldn’t be seen naked but in horror films? (Which by the way I consider a perversion by both sexes)…. If anyone can tell me the reason (s) for this I would really be interested to know.

Like he wasn’t looking down at it, his arms were raised so it was vertical, right in front of his face, obviously just leaving his junk exposed for all to see. That’s just weird, man. You can’t tell me you’re not getting some sort of jollies off of that exhibitionism.

It's fine if you are shy and don't feel comfortable to be undressed in front of others, but realize that the locker room is a place to change clothes and therefore some degree of nudity is a matter of fact there.
Also, many people like myself played sports growing up and we just weren't afforded privacy. We had one big shower room with showers in the middle coming out of one central stand. Back then you just did not have any privacy, so it became normal to see and be seen nude.

Or you love your privates to be shown? Not "love your privates to be shown" but not ashamed of my body either. If someone sees me nude, well I guess they have seen me nude. Not a concern of mine.
It’s not a big deal as long as you’re only naked for a short time till you get dressed. Everyone does it. It’s not like it’s in front of the opposite gender or anything. But I guess there’s nothing really wrong with doing what you do either if that’s what makes you feel comfortable.
Every time I walked in my gym there was always a naked old dude right there. I hated it. It’s always the really old wrinkly dudes that seem to be way too comfortable walking around naked.
It bothered me when I stripped naked. My privates are exactly that, private. For my eyes and my girlfriend’s eyes only. Anything outside of that I’m uncomfortable. I come home smelly after a workout and shower there and change in toilet stalls if I need to.
It’s how I’ve always done it since I was a kid and I just never really got comfortable any other way. There were shower stalls in my junior high school locker room which helped. If someone sees my ass I’m not overly bothered. My family jewels is what I’m conscious about.
I think it is ingrained in a lot of us to be ashamed of being naked in front of others, even other family members. I remember feeling embarrassed in changing rooms or on beaches when the towel slipped.
However these days I don't. That doesn't mean I flaunt my naked body, dancing around the changing room with brazen mirth. What it does mean is that I pay less attention to others and feel more comfortable in my own skin. A private cubicle is preferable because I feel like my belongings are more secure, and because it alleviates the inevitable feeling of vulnerability when getting changed. But if I must change quickly I simply do so without towel wrapping.
Life is too short and already difficult enough without adding the frustration other people being naked in changing rooms might be bringing you!
I think a lot comes down to respect for others.

It depends on the person. Lots of people who played sports took showers together after for the short time allowed. Rarely does anyone gets naked because they are showing off their bodies. Most just aren't embarrassed to change in front of the same sex. So they aren't gonna go through the extra trouble you go through in order to hide your lady parts.
And I am one who was self conscious about getting naked in front of other girls. But I got over it.
No that doesn't bother me. There was a time in high-school were I got bullied for openly getting naked in the locker room while all the other girls took turns changing in the bathroom. I didn't have the time or care to do that...
As a adult I've never had a issue with this tho. The gym/pool in my neighborhood is open showers and no grown woman hides their body there.

I'm rather against it but it depends how it's done... if someone stays in their little corner and quickly changes it doesn't bother me. I'm not going to look around the changing room, I focus on myself. If someone is walking around like that and it's hard to ignore or not see it, I'd be uncomfortable. I don't remember any guys taking showers at all back in High school. The military was forced to shower together and it wasn't anything but business to get the petty officers to stop yelling at us. Gym wise, I just went home to do that sort of business. The locker room was used only for holding my wallet and shit.

After I finish my workout I completely undress to take a shower. But I always have a towel covering my private parts. Maybe from now on, I'll wrap the towel completely around myself so that my butt is covered too. I didn't realize it bothered people. When I do see people walking completely nude I don't think much of it. Why would I?

and the gym I work out at now the showers are in individual stalls anyway so you have privacy. Though the first one I was at was just a room with shower heads, no privacy.

How I picture my first time in there is we all turn around and meet in the middle for a dual, and make it an awkward thing every week. We need to stop hating ourselves and our bodies by hating other people and their bodies! The human body is beautiful and nudity is beautiful why are people so offended by nudity? @vald9inches I don't completely disagree with you here. The only difference I can see in the original question is no one has to want to see anyone naked. That doesn't mean everyone hates their bodies or others bodies but rather not strangers flaunt themselves while they're trying to get showered or change clothes.
This definitely happens in locker rooms at times and it can be uncomfortable. I don't at all have a problem with nudity but some guys in locker rooms are trying to put themselves on display and I find that completely annoying, childish, and borderline forcing behavior not welcomed by others.
For ex a stranger staring at my penis while I dry off asking what I'm doing later is annoying. Yes that's happened once and I don't think that's the time and place to ask another fellow out lol.

Why even go in the locker room if you aren't ok with seeing strangers naked? You have to take off your clothes to shower. That's what locker rooms are for. If you don't want to see naked people, don't change your clothes or shower at the gym. You aren't required to go in the locker rooms at all.

Old guys in the mens locker rooms are the worst about this. Some of them want to get in these long ass conversations when they are butt naked. I don’t think they are always necessarily homo but still it’s just gross.
Sometimes I have to be naked when I am toweling off and need to get in my locker after a shower. But never longer than necessary and I don’t start any unnecessary conversations with people. Most of the time I shower at home after a workout anyway.
not a problem. I played volleyball and soccer in high school and we took showers together. We had an old school so there were no indepentant shower stalls. We often washed one another's backs or hair in the shower so It would be no problem for me.

No I don't think it is. Nudity doesn't bother me, every one has a body, and all out parts are more or less the same. Nudity isn't inherently wrong, immoral, or sexual. I think the bigger issue here is why it makes you so uncomfortable.

It's not like it's offensive or something. If I don't want other people seeing me naked than I just do what you do and wear towel. But why would I care what other guys do? That's a serious question. I’ve never seen a naked woman in the gym locker room, even when I used the sauna, I had towels covering my body, I’m not sure nudity is even legal there.
