Is it normal to get naked in the gym change rooms?

I recently started at a new gym.
The showers they have are in tiny cubicles and there are no hooks or shelves to leave anything.

So after my first workout there I got undressed in the locker section and just walked naked down the small corridor to the shower cubicles. Had my shower and then walked back to where i had my towel and clothes.
Everyone was giving me really odd looks and nobody else was using the shower. It seemed people were just getting changed into clothes without showering (yuck).

I honestly thought taking your clothes off in a girls only change room was pretty normal. Am i wrong?

What you did sounds very normal to me. If there are no hooks or bars to hold your towel, then the only real choice if to leave it, and walk naked to the shower, and back. And yes, being naked in a changing room is normal. I mean, that's what you do in a changing room, and that's what you do in a shower room. And in the hallway leading to there, is there is no good way to hang your towel.

maybe it was more due to you walking around / being naked or almost naked. that gave them pause or bit of shock.

but the showers at the gym are there to be used. if people want to use them after a workout. to clean up a bit and remove sweat.

I guess it depends on the “gym culture” the one that I go to has changing rooms and shower hangers so I guess I can’t relate. I shower at my gym especially if I worked out before going to work. Try asking some of the ladies around you about facilities at the gym. Maybe you missed something, or maybe you should at least walk through the halls with a towel on or something at all times 😂

I personally don’t get completely naked, I’ll just change my outer clothes or something like that if I’m coming to gym from somewhere else and changing into workout clothes. But there are lots of people who do, especially old ladies! Nothing wrong with it at all!

Yeah I mean that is technically what the changing rooms are for its just that most women don't have to confidence for that (myself included). You'll probably always get weird looks when you do that but you're doing nothing wrong so I say go for it.

I don't think you are wrong but it does seem even in locker rooms people are afraid to be seen naked more than absolutely necessary.

I get naked after the gym, but generally wrap myself in a towel when going from locker room to shower.

In a men's changing room that's totally normal, everyone showers, I don't know why women would be different
