Is it appropriate to get naked in a gym change room?

So basically I just started at a new gym which is at my university campus, the idea being I can go to gym between classes etc.
Anyway, Yesterday I went for a shower after a workout and the problem with the cubicles is that they are very small so everything in there gets wet.
I really thought it was no big deal, so I decided to just get fully naked in the changing area and then walk maybe 20m to where the showers are, have a shower and then come back to the changing area to dry off and get dressed.

Anyway when I did it I got some really strange looks from the other girls in there.
Did I do something wrong?
I thought it was ok to get naked in a female change room?

I've seen people get naked while changing in the locker room area and also outside of the shower but I've never seen someone walk entirely nude from the locker room to the shower in any gym. Even in my days as a swimmer. I mean it should be fine to do though. We're all women so what should it matter right?

It's a changing room... in high school our showers were not cubicles but open, so everyone was walking around naked. What else should you do? Shower in a raincoat?

Seems normal enough to me. It’s a changing room, what else are you expected to do. I get naked in the changing room at my gym all the time. If you continue to get weird looks maybe just use a towel or something in the future.

I have no idea how girls feel about this. It would not be an issue on the men's side of the facilities.

Ok I read a lot here what others said thought I would say my opinion. First off I am a guy and I will be honest about myself. Like I said I am a guy when I was in school way back in the day (cause I am now 47). I always hade pe for my last class of the day so I never hade to rush And I would always take a shower.( everyone hade to take a shower after pe class) the lockers wear on one side and the showers on the other side. And I would always take all my things all off at my locker and would walk fully naked to the showers let just say that the showers wear far from the lockers. Moat guy would hurry up strip down rap a towel around them walk to showers and hurry take a shower and get out. But some guys would give me crap about it for to reasons one is cause I would keep my towel at my locker cause towels would end up getting wet anyways. and other reason is cause I kept what verry little body hair I did have shaved all off and also kept all my pubic hair all shaved off ( I am fully body and pubic hair shaved still to this day) and some would give me crap about how I liked to have no body hair or pub hair cause back in those days it was more a girls thing to do shave there bodys not to maney guys shaved there hole body and pubic hair smooth then like lot of guys do these days. And I would always say I guess your to insecure with ya body to try something new with your body.

Don't sweat it, 100% plenty of other people do the same thing and even if they don't it's still totally fine. Besides it's normal to look at naked people, it's like a reflex or something you know?

In my uni gym outside the shower room is either:
- The sinks area where people wash their face/hands, there are huge mirrors, very bright and well lit place :) nobody gets naked here
- The changing room with aircon/heater where people change their clothes and dry themselves, people do get naked here, but they usually face the wall, so you can look at their asses :))

Totally normal! Whats not normal, is people (old men mostly) who are walking around naked, taking their time to wash themselves, and stay in the locker room for much longer then anybody else (like they want to be seen by as many people as possible...)

Not really. Changing rooms are made for getting naked.
Some users have some other ideas because of their insecurities. nothing to pay attention to since they are making a fuzz about nothing.
It was the same at the gym's I go to a few years ago and they begin to do the same as me after a while.

They are only trying to shame you to begin to be like them. Dont fall for it.

Changing your clothes in a change room is the whole point of a change room... it's in the name..

If they got a problem, ignore em. Unless you are wonder woman, changing clothes means you will at some brief point naked.

I think it's fine. I don't know if it's different in women's changing rooms but the guys at my gym will get fully naked in the changing room and walk to the showers and back that way. Most people are polite enough to just look away

Heck even at the YMCA they have community showers only so there is naked people everywhere

Normally it's acceptable. However I noticed that It varies with age. The older people are, the less inhibited they are. Twenty something guys are incredibly shy these days. Probably afraid somebody will make fun of their peepee.

Not in my opinion. I think people should only be naked in complete privacy or just with their partner. (I also think partners should always be married before seeing each other naked.)

But walking a distance naked from the showers to the changing area in front of others? some people won't accept it.
