The childbirth, the menstruations, those cramp simulation videos, and it's said that women handle getting tattoos better, and can endure high temperatures better. So what do you think? Personally as a guy, I say yes. Women are internally superior.
It's not really a case of women being "tougher" than men. Woman can handle Labour and periods because their body is naturally designed to give birth and menstrate. And even then all women are different. For me personally I don't get periods cramps that bad so it doesn't bother me, where as some women suffer really bad (in some cases to the point they can't get out of bed)
It's the same with people who say men being bigger and stronger than women. It's not anything against women which again is just how their body is naturally designed.
As for tattoos and stuff like that. It depends of the individuals pain tolerance which is different from person to person so Neither is tougher than the other.

The trade off is men have stronger raw muscular power. A man can lift more in a 1 rep max than an equally trained woman. However, the woman will be able to perform many more sets at 80% max than a man would.

How do you define tougher? We are definitely tougher emotionally in some ways if you consider being able to deal with emotions constructively. But if you mean being able to move on from conflict, men are definitely better at moving on from arguments and fights without holding a grudge forever.
Physically, men are obviously tougher in terms of strength and pain tolerance. The idea that women have a higher tolerance to pain is an old wives' tale that existed because women have to give birth and men don't, and in the old days people had no scientific means of disproving it. But today we do and the old wives' tale has been disproven repeatedly. It is now a well accepted fact that men tolerate pain better than we do.
I've heard of women having higher pain tolerance so in a way yes they are.
Tougher? Maybe. Definitely a higher threshold for pain, I think.
