Why would my bestfriend tell me about guys that would be interested in me and then go out with them?

I'm not friends with this girl anymore, but I do like to go back and analyze our years together. Anyways, I always wanted to date somebody in highschool and I'd sometimes express that to my bestfriend Emily in highschool. She would in turn tell me about guys that would like me and then she would go out with them and get into relationships with them. "Oh he has a huge crush on you!" Fast forward a month later and they're kissing in the front of the guy's truck. This happened multiple times. To this day, never had a boyfriend. Never really dated anyone. Was it an ego trip? I mean why the hell would she step on me over and over and over again when I clearly wasn't getting anybody? And when given the opportunity from her, she would just take that away from me. But like why?
