My ex girlfriend posted a selfie of her crying on snap saying "sometimes just gotta try and smile through"... asked her what's wrong, said, having a bad day and that she's in a bad place... I said I'm really sorry and that I wanna give her a hug (cuz that's my first instinct to do when she cries) what could've happened or what does she mean?

she is going through bad situation, hardships obstacles or it's a mental situation anxiety stress mild depression etc
