What should I do about this bad situation?

found out awhile ago my old boss was giving me bad references.

then was trying to get a job from a guy he called corporate to get a references. He did not leave on good terms, however. He resigned before he was let go due to a Loss Prevention investigation. He is not re-hireable.

but there was no Loss Prevention investigation. on me

i talked to a lawyer was a waste of $210 for a 36 min call.

said unless i have prof that they meant to harm me a defamation lawsuit is not going to happen

Based on what you’ve just posted there’s not much you can do about this. I would just forget about it and move on.

Well if your boss that gave you bad references no longer works there, he can no longer give you a bad reference.
