They do this because they are narcissists.

They find the guys, who actually care for them, boring. Because there is no challenge.

They chase assholes because they are in constant competition to be “the best girl”... so a “bad boy” is a player, someone who is rogue or off the rails emotionally. Women want so desperately to be that magical female who tames the wild horse. They want to be “special” and beat all those who have tried to be the one who changes him and failed.
