Why do most girls go for the bad boy?

Okay, so there's this boy that I've liked for a long time, and he is so sweet, funny, caring and everything, and we're in the stage more than friends but less than lovers,

then as soon as the bad boy shows interest in me, BAM it goes down the drain:
The bad boy is the complete opposite, confident, kind of arrogant, experienced and basically over all the complete opposite of the other boy.

But why is it after I've had this connection with the good boy for such a long time does it go down the drain as soon as the bad boy becomes intersted? Many girls are like this and I'd like to know your opinion, I mean I KNOW the bad boy isn't good for me at all, but I still am more attracted to him? Help me understand, because most of the time others understand me better than I understand myself.

The reason girls like bad boys, is because they are exciting, unpredictable, there is that sense you never know what he is going to go do next, they have confidence. They are a challenge to a girl, because the girl see's it as a challenge to try and change him. He treats people how he wants, and doesn't care about the consequences.

Whereas the good/nice guy, is just happy doing the same old routine, is just happy to go along with his women, doesn't have any sense of adventure, sometimes he likes to please everyone. He is very predictable, and being predictable, is very boring to most people.

In terms of fictional character, James Bond is bad boy. In Real life the bad boys are people like Arnold schwarzenegger, mike tyson in his younger days etc.

But bad boys are not assholes, you are assholes be people they raping and killing people, assholes are your criminals.

No, you have to distinguish the difference between an asshole and a bad boy. Girls like the thrill of a bad boy TO AN EXTENT. They aren't going to go after a guy who doesn't act like himself. Nobody wants to hang out with a boring person.

The bad boy thing is overstated. Most women don't prefer bad boys as much as they prefer attractive ones. Hot guys and socially adept usually do well... bad ones and good ones. The bad ones just usually prowl more often and more loudly, making it seem like they're more in demand.

You've just got to learn to keep the decision making to the brain and not the body. My guess is that neither guy is a good fit. find a guy you feel some of both attraction and comfort.

Quite a few women grow out of their bad boy phase when they date guys in the workforce since most bad boys have crap careers and a bunch of the well behaved guys start earning bank. Shifts the 'who seems powerful' equation.
