Someone can be a 10 - objectively speaking, but still not someones type. Just because you can see someone look good (or has a nice personality) it doesn’t mean you’re attracted to them. I can see some men are objectively good looking and understand why someone would be attracted to them, but still not be interested or attracted at all. Just as I as a straight woman can see and recognize another woman being beautiful but it doesn’t mean I’m attracted to her that way. Also, 6 isn’t really that high. Average is 5 so 6 is just slightly above average, but whatever that’s besides the point.
Both of those things can be true at the same time. Being someone's type usually means more than physical appearance. But, yeah, it's also possible that she was trying to avoid hurting his feelings.

I think many people are odd when it comes to the 1-10 scale. To me, if someone is average that person is a 5. Others see a 7 as average because 70% was a "C" in most classes. By that measure a 6 is below average.
Someone can be a 10 and be unattractive. Like a beautiful person who has a shit personally becomes unattractive to me
