Why do guys rate girls? 1-10. Please explain!

Why do guys rate girls with their whole number system? I just don't get it Because I have honestly honestly never been able to think that way about people just from seeing them be able to say a 5 or an 8. It just doesn't make sense to me. I think people look good depending on aspects of their personality--confidence, their expressions, gestures and "charm" and you can't read all that from just a glance.

And why do guys sometimes tell you your rating? Is this your way of flirting? All it does is make me think that the guy is shallow.

but do you guys mainly make up numbers to communicate someone's attractiveness to your friends? or do you do it in your head naturally? lol. now I'm starting to think the number thing is a way for guys to talk about female beauty without being like: "dude, she's got the most amazing eyes."


but I think in general people now a days are crap at describing stuff anyway..

Why do we rate girls from 1-10? Quite frankly, it's easier to use than a logarithmic system or sliding scale. Some guys use though non-integer real numbers when rating women - like "I'd give her a 7.5", or "on a scale from 1 to 10, I'd say she's a pi."

But on a more serious note, using numbers is fast and easy.

But couldn't you assign numbers to each of those characteristics? Like "I'd give him a 10 in confidence" or "his charm's an 8 out of 10"?

So since you "think people look good depending on aspects of their personality", then you don't find people physically attractive based on their appearance? At all?

you're right I could try "grading" them in all of those categories and then add the numbers up and come up with an average lol but that would take a lot of time. I m not necessarily saying guys are wrong for judging girls on first appearances we all do it everyday its in our dna..im just curious how that instinct translates into numbers...

Everyone is shallow to an extent, but it's important to be shallow because it is intrinsic to ensure that the best genes are reproduced.

The number system I go by is called the FABLE system.

I rate a girl on five categories:

Face

Ass

Breast

Legs

Erotic Factor

Each part of a girl will get 2 points. Thus, a really hot innocent girl can be an 8. It's just another way to rate and compare people. If it's a high rating, we use it as a compliment or way of flirting with the girl. For the record, the more symmetrical person is, the better looking they are. It's science.

No not in the 1-10 way that is just ridiculous, but I am curious why guys rate girls. I was walking down a street on day and they had numbers written on napkin and rated me. I kinda felt violated. made me really depressed

When I'm having a beer with a few guys, sure, guy talk goes about chicks and we do sometimes rate gals passing by from 1-10 but it comes naturally, it's not really like we start a game, it just happens.

It's just guy chat, we hold no value to it and when the rating stops everyone goes back to thanking god they have a gal :P We could just as well be talking about painting our house or how cold we like our beer.

I don't rate using a number system. I think that it's just too innacurate and variable.

I'll just stick to either;

- hot, okay, nothing special, ew, *barf*

or

- I'd shag that, it would take a few beers, paper bag job, wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

I dint like doing it cause their is way more to a person than looks. But basically to put them in a place so you can relate your friend on what you think is good looking or yourself to say she's. 7 and your a 7 you have a chance.

One of my female friends told me the system girls use is a score for looks then a score for personality and half it for their rating. Don't know if it's true...

I rate women 1-12. 10 is what most men rate women at their best but there are she-males that can be 10s. A real woman will look like a 11 and I only have seen 4 12s in my entire life. There is something ancient about their beauty.

You seem like a great person all of these 6th grade boys keep rating girls on their butt and their chest out of five and there is nothing that makes you happy like I got A 4 and a 4 but I'm just grossed out that they are looking there I wish guys would consider feelings
