How do you start a texting conversation with a girl?
From what I've tried nothing works.

Maybe she wants you to call. Not all people enjoy texting because it is so common. Girls take you much more seriously, at my age, if you call. How old are you?

17, and girls my age don't even response to text, they just leave it in read, some of them even leave it because it's fun to to them, I knew multiple girls who did this and say they do it because it just makes them feel nice
