Is this really a thing? Do women really dye their hair "fall colors" for Fall?

After dealing with nothing but hair dye for hours at work the other day, said something on break and two ladies at work, said "yep can tell fall is coming" to which I was 'wtf does fall have to do with it?" And they said women dye their hair fall colors for Fall... In all my years, this the first time I'm hearing that, didn't know that was a thing🤷🏼‍♀️

Interesting. I wasn't aware of that.
I understand covering gray. But I never understood young women's compulsion to change their natural hair color. No matter how gorgeous their natural hair is, they want something different.
They do the same thing with hair style. If their hair is straight, they want it curly. If their hair is curly, they want it straight.
Why not just get a cut that flatters their natural hair? Gee, wouldn't that be original?

The sad truth might just be the pressure or suggestion (cough) of some silly women magazine? A couple of years ago, I noticed a lot of women at my work location appeared with black hair. When I asked one about it, she said, magazine xyz had this color published as the latest fashion. #shrug# 🤔🙄🫣

No, nobody does that, like it’s just not a thing that’s done. DGMW, I'm sure lots of women AND MEN will change the color of their hair like all the time. But they usually are the types that change from green to purple, to pink, to blue, and back to green. But going blonde for the summer, brown for fall, black for winter (and sitting shiva), light brown for spring, then back to blonde? No, that’s literally not a thing!

I have only colored my hair for a couple of Halloween galas back when I was in my 20s. They were appropriate for my costume. I do see it happening, even across age groups in our area, but it’s just not my preference. Perhaps someone can make a short documentary and call it “legends of the fall color”. Maybe Brad Pitt or Anthony Hopkins could narrate

Yes, some women do change their hair color based on seasons. I have friends that go dark in the cooler months and back to blonde during summer. I wear my hair in braids most of the time and I had lighter/brighter colors during summer. And I'll be trying some fall colors in a few months 🤷🏾‍♀️

In a more pragmatic sense, "fall colors" - particularly in facial tones- are more for the "autumns" and darker "springs" (more info in any of hundreds of examples on line).

I think it's silly... Dying your hair darker for cooler seasons and lighter for warmer seasons. My hair does that, naturally (as does most everyone else... Amount of sunlight does this)... For that matter, most mammals experience this. It's trendy to throw money at something that already naturally happens for most folks... And "trendy" is just silly, to me.

Right! My hair doesn't change as drastically as it used to when I was younger and it would get really red in winter and really blonde in summer, now it only changes a shade of two
