What does it mean when a woman puts her phone face down and her phone on vibrate?

Nothing. Literally nothing. She likely doesn't want others to see any notifications and is protecting her privacy. To put a phone on vibrate could be for a number of reasons. She doesn't want it constantly dinging away or is trying to be polite in public.

If you are thinking it has some deep meaning, you are way overthinking this situation. I leave my phone on silent or vibrate all day long. I don't want to hear the notification chimes all the time. I will check it once in a while and respond to those that text me.

I don't ever remember putting it face down. I tend to use the screen lighting up as my way of knowing I had a call, email or text. I do put it face down at night or if we are watching a movie and it is dark. I find it distracting and don't want it lighting up the room.

There really isn't much other meaning to why she may have done that other than what I explained.

It is actually a polite gesture to put your phone screen down when you wanna show that you're focusing on the other person (instead of your phone) yet still expecting something that is non-negotiable to having to check. Like work or relative hospitalised (it is mostly work). I mean that's the origin of the thing, but now everyone does it, even if they don't expect anything, they just wanna appear to be a little bit more polite.

My girl never answers my calls and says her phone is on silent, which it always is, so frustrating when I’m trying to speak to her about something important. After 10 years she still does this. I’d take it as your girl doesn’t want to be rude and be grateful she’s being considerate when she’s with you. Do the same with you her phone and see how she reacts just out of interest. Seems to me that she’s making sure she’s only got time for you and doesn’t want to be interupted while in your company. I wouldn’t see it as she’s hiding something unless you’ve got a reason to think otherwise. A girl with good manners like that is a keeper.
