I suppose it depends on the stage of the online dating. If this is just a match on tinder or something like that and she stops talking or doesn't want to be with you (and you're just in the stage of talking or a first date) I'd say, no it isn't.

If however you have met through online dating and have been on a couple of dates and things started to get more intense/emotional, I don't see why it wouldn't hurt just as much as a normal rejection.

Online dating is just a way of getting to know people.

Yes. The fundamental of dating is about communication. If you can't even keep the conversation going, then its gonna be even harder when on real life.
