The key is to first discover yourself. Observe others (in real life, in movies, in books, etc.). Identify the qualities you or others see in yourself (not necessarily who you'd like to be). If you or others see these qualities as negative, look for alternatives that would meet the same needs. If you or others see these qualities as positive, discover how to enhance them. You must first identify yourself before you can be true to yourself.

Once you're working on enhancing your true self, never be a chameleon to fit into someone else's life. Yes, we will make subtle adjustments when we show consideration for others, but we won't change the essence of the person we are. Don't give in to peer pressure. If something doesn't take you in the direction you want to go (long-term), don't waste your time doing it.

For every type of person, there are people who are drawn to that type of person. Be the best person you can be, and you'll draw these people who are attracted by the person you already are. Just as you have preferences, so do others. Never assume everyone you're attracted to will find you attractive. Give others the respect you'd want them to give you. You'll enjoy your life more when you are true to yourself.
