She added me back?

I (F, 23) told the girl (22) who I’ve been going out with for a few weeks that I couldn’t give her the relationship she deserves - for various reasons all having to do with myself personally and not her, she’s an amazing, beautiful girl, and I told her I’d love to still be friends if she wanted that too - she said she doesn’t want to however.

She of course was upset and disappointed and once the conversation was over she left and immediately unadded me on everything, didn’t block me though.

Then the next day she re-added me back on Snapchat. I reached out to her to thank her for adding me back again, and that I’ll give her space. She never responded and left me on open.

I’m just curious on maybe what are other people’s thoughts? Like why would she re-add me? This is my first time going out with a girl, and maturity wise I’d have a different, calmer reaction, so I’d just appreciate other opinions.

It’s likely she deleted you in the heat of the moment as a coping mechanism. Even though you two weren’t dating long ago all, she probably had gained feelings and it can suck a lot to lose that potential and feel rejected, especially if she’s had a hard time in the dating scene, past or present. Once the immediate hurt passed then she thought better of her actions and re-added you, because you really didn’t do anything wrong and I’m sure she doesn’t want to come off as spiteful and angry. If anything this should just show her that maybe she hasn’t healed properly from past hurt. You handled it the best you could, and it was kind of you to give her the closure of formally ending things rather than ghosting, because that would be far more hurtful and confusing. Don’t worry, she will get over this.

I really appreciate this 💕 thank you so much. I really hope that her and I can be friends in the future, as even though I can’t be her partner, I’d love to still have her as a part of my life; if it wouldn’t cause her too much pain.
