Same reason modern men are, I'd imagine. Having connected the world we've disemboweled all the mystique that fluffed it up to look majestic and complicated. We quickly learned that everyone all at once is bridled by their own insecurities - many of them embarassingly common regardless if race, religion, creed, etc - and it is horrifying rare for anyone to let the understanding of how truly meaningless they are reach their conscious mind, instead devoting all of their mental energy to engaging in elaborate and sometimes destructive attempts to suppress or deny it. We are at a bit of an inflection point in our psychological evolution where we must diverge into either doubling down on the denial, closing our brains to the outside and fill the world back up with mystique to stand in awe of once again, or we will have to make the conscious effort to cope with it all and become a species that transcends meaningless for no reason that need be greater than curiosity.
Unfortunately, this turn into enlightenment would render everyone who resists meaningless twice over, having a place in neither the world they denied (since it would be gone) nor the world they tried to prevent. Humanity has some hard times ahead and I think a lot of people can sense that there is a philosophical war brewing between those who would rather the species return to an animal/tribal lifestyle of seclusion and avoidance that they can at least understand and those who are ready to sacrifice the comforts of understanding and self importance to drive the species to literally any aspiration even if it is no more than lifting our head out of the sand just to see if there can be a next step. Nothing can stop it. We can only really hope to transition slowly that those left out would have the time to die old peacefully but that will frustrate generations who are ready to out of that cocoon so they can enjoy the new world. It's depressing knowing the ambitions of next few generations will be sacrificed just so the last feel generations don't feel a little bit sad for the last few years of the lives they refuse to consider might have been meanigless. Or at least it depresses me. I don't know if this applies to everyone else.
I think it's because they want everything out there to fill up their void, help them make up for what they're lacking. They want attention, they want money and all kinds of material things, they want a man who will do everything for them or be all this and that for them. And when they get these things they still aren't happy and either need more or need new, never being satisfied or content. That's an inner emptiness issue.
I also think other large reasons for a lot of women's unhappiness is having masculine energy, not wanting to respect men, not wanting to hear them but to just gaslight and manipulate, wanting to have power over them and even sometimes other women, having desires for cruelty, and an overall attitude of being self-justified. All this while they pretend they are happier and doing better than most men - especially on social media, and trying to keep us focused on all the guys who are single and miserable so we don't focus on how so many women are also single and miserable, or even in a relationship but still miserable.
Depends on the individual but I will say studies have proven women are happier and have a longer lifespan when unmarried and childless. Modern women (I guess that means women who aren’t into the whole traditional aspect of life) appreciate the fact that we have rights and can continue the fight towards equality. We can work, sort of own our own bodies (for now), have fun if we wish, be single if we wish, etc. It’s all our choice, no father is selling us off and even though submission is still pressured on women, that servitude is a choice for women who think for themselves
If women are depressed (again, depends on the individual) it’s from men stealing our rights, raping, abusing, and unaliving us, etc and at a high percentage. Life would obviously suck when a man gets upset and murdery when a woman tells him “no” and that happens wayyyy too often. Men are scary
As a woman I don’t think women are oppressed by men, I mean it goes both ways. What I’ve seen now though even by friends who’ve told me this is they get offended even when a man holds the doors for them. They claim it’s rooted in sexism and how women are weaker. Personally I just find it nice because even though you are perfectly capable to do it doesn’t mean you have to. Same goes for the whole paying for dinner argument. I just think that some women have a victim mindset so they will find themselves being victimized everywhere if they look through life in that lens.

There is obviously no one answer to this question, as depression can have many different causes. Social and cultural pressures, work-life balance, financial concerns, relationship difficulties, and past trauma are just a few possibilities. Hell some research suggests that hormonal changes, genetics, and other biological factors may play a role in the development of depression not just with modern women but everyone.
We all need to keep in mind that everyone's experience with depression is unique, and it is important to seek help from a mental health professional if you are struggling with depression.
Hmmm... they have to work now... men no longer want to just give them the world just for existing... they want to be treated like a queen of beauty even if they're fat while still holding their own standards... they get told how much better they are because of vagina constantly by media, but reality constantly sets in...

The funniest part is when they blamed Bear Grylls the TV host for their own failure. 27:36. Quite literally the "if all men went, women would still find a way to blame men for something" meme. Even the camerawoman, who is a "trained" survival expert (thus, the women were given an unfair advantage) was complaining.

Just remember; not all women are this bad, though. But a large percentage of them are.
Feminism is the root cause, in my opinion. It teaches girls to hate themselves almost as much as they'd hate men. Nothing good has come out of feminism (aside from some minor second-wave stuff.)
But if we were to choose from your list, it's because some women out there are being selfish and putting their careers and money ahead of family, love, or living life for others. Men are better at handling this than women, but it doesn't make men happy in the long run, either.
Most people are happy with forming a bond with someone who loves you and is right for you, and starting a family in their lives. Too bad modern times makes that so damn impossible nowadays, especially with feminism intentionally wanting to destroy the nuclear family unit.
I think the whole society, current generational trends &world situation probably leads to depression, not just for women, men also, but this takes a bigger toll on women, the life styles, expectations etc are more damaging to women, it’s further away from our nature
Women 18-29 are ignoring their natural function (reproduction) because society tells them to focus on a career. No wonder they are depressed. It makes men depressed too and when they finally have kids it probably makes the kids depressed because mom has to get straight back to work. No bonding for you, junior.

Take too many damn prescription pills. You pump your mind with all those drugs from the Pharmacy you are bound to start to have mental problems.

I'm not on any medications (nor have I been on b. c.) but I still struggle with depression. I've endured a LOT of trauma and heartbreak in my life, starting from childhood. I'm working on healing it - but it's not a quick process. It wasn't until about 2 years ago that I realized that I deserved to find that healing...
Because depression as a term or diagnosis is also very modern.
